Traveloka and Hai Phong City Tourism Board Join Hands to Promote Local Tourism Development in the ‘New Normal’ Era

Vietnam, 20th December 2021 - Traveloka, Southeast Asia’s travel and lifestyle superapp, announces its strategic partnership with Hai Phong City Tourism Board for 3 years to promote local tourism development. Travel demand has resumed since the travel restrictions loosening at the beginning of October, which remarks a turning point for tourism to ‘defrost’ while continuing to take firm steps to assure safe travel and safe adaptation to COVID-19. Through this collaboration with Hai Phong City Tourism Board, Traveloka reinforces the company’s commitment to accelerate the digital transformation process in the tourism sector, in parallel, supporting the safe revival of the national tourism sector amidst the “new normal” context.

As part of Hai Phong’s tourism development strategy, the collaboration aims to promote Hai Phong tourism on digital platforms and encourage Hai Phong residents to embrace technology while traveling in order to ensure travel safety. Specifically, Traveloka will promote Hai Phong travel on Traveloka’s social media networks, and establish a QR code with which tourists can scan to access travel guidelines, maps, or experience touchless travel services on Traveloka. By these activities, Traveloka expects to showcase Hai Phong City as a new charming destination of Vietnam and hence, attract more tourists to this Red Phoenix flower city in a convenient way and safe manner. In the upcoming future, Traveloka will also coordinate with Hai Phong City Tourism Board to organize seminars with the aim to familiarize and motivate Hai Phong travelers toward touchless travel, as well as support Hai Phong City Tourism Board for the Hai Phong tourism research contest.

Embracing the importance of technology adoption in tourism recovery, Mr. Vu Huy Thuong, Vice Director of Hai Phong City Tourism Board stated, “The pandemic is a catalyst for the acceleration of digital transformation in the tourism sector.
