One thing has always been certain: Aussies love travelling to Bali. If you’re one of them, or about to be, you’ll want to have everything in place before jetting off to Indonesia. Among the logistics you’ll need to iron out before locking in your travel plans is the time of year you plan to visit. Here’s the thing, not every month is the right time to go on a trip  depending on your circumstances, budget and tolerance levels. We’re answering all the questions you need to ask yourself before booking your Bali trip.

Is April a good time to visit Bali?

For an ideal mix of more affordable prices as well as pleasant weather conditions, April is a great time to visit Bali as it’s considered the “shoulder season”. This means you won’t have to face the heaving crowds that run rampant in peak season but you also won’t be as likely to encounter rainstorms and mosquitoes that come with the quieter wet season.

The plus side? You’ll get better value since demand isn’t sky high and you’ll get to enjoy the perks that come with sunny weather. Think beach days, water activities and getting out and about to explore whether it’s hiking or visiting cultural sites like temples.

Is April a cheap or expensive time to visit Bali?

April is generally a relatively affordable time to visit Bali due to it being in between the wet season and the peak season. In effect, you’ll avoid the higher prices that often come with higher demand. For those travelling with a tight budget, it’s definitely worth considering April as the time to take your trip.

One thing to note though, is if the Easter holidays fall in April the year you’re visiting, this can cause a surge in prices (and crowds) due to more people travelling on the same dates.

Weather in Bali in April

April is the time of year when Bali starts to transition from the rainy season into the dry season. This is good news for visitors as it means there’s significantly less rainfall to dampen any outing you plan to partake in during your visit. Bear in mind though, the days will usually be hot with temperature highs in the low 30s and evenings simmering around the 22-25°C mark so stay hydrated and try to keep cool when you can. The expected warm weather also means it’s the perfect time for beach lovers and activities such as swimming, diving and snorkelling.

Festivals and events in Bali in April

Saraswati and Pagerwesi (4 - 8 April 2026): These days are dedicated to honouring wisdom, prosperity and wealth as well as strengthening yourself with knowledge and wisdom.
Bali Spirit Festival (22nd – 26th April 2026): This is Asia’s largest yoga and wellness festival and attracts yoga enthusiasts from around the world.
Semarapura Festival (2026 dates TBC, usually end of April): This carnival-like festival celebrates the end of the  Klungkung Regency’s war against Dutch colonialists in 1908.

Best things to do in Bali in April

Given the warm, pleasant weather and lower chance of showers, it’s a good time to check out the beautiful beaches in Bali without huge crowds. Check out the famous Padang Padang beach in Uluwatu or Nusa Dua’s calm, family friendly beaches. Alternatively, explore Seminyak or Canggu for the vibrant beach atmosphere, beach clubs and cafes. This time of year is also ideal for water activities such as surfing, diving, snorkelling or jet skiing.
