Recently completed in early 2025, Ho Chi Minh City's Tan Son Nhat Airport Terminal 3 better connects Vietnam's largest city with the rest of the country. Marking the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South of Vietnam, this project aims to meet the increasing demand for travel, especially domestic flights, and at the same time help reduce pressure on Terminal 1.

Tan Son Nhat Terminal T3 now helps visitors have a faster check-in experience, more spacious waiting space and more modern amenities.

Located in Ward 12, Tan Binh District, about 7km from the centre of Ho Chi Minh City's District 1, Terminal T3 is features modern, large-scale airport infrastructure capable of serving up to 20 million passengers per year. The airport expansion not only improves the quality of aviation services but also creates favourable conditions for passengers and optimises the check-in process, making flights faster and more convenient.

In addition to improving the operational capacity of Tan Son Nhat Airport, Terminal T3 also opens up many opportunities for economic and tourism development. With the ability to connect domestic destinations, this project will contribute to promoting the aviation industry, creating momentum for sustainable development of Ho Chi Minh City and the whole country.

Basic information about Tan Son Nhat T3 terminal

Name: Terminal T3 Tan Son Nhat
Type: Domestic passenger terminal
Location of Tan Son Nhat T3 terminal: South of Tan Son Nhat airport, connecting with major routes such as Cong Hoa and Hoang Hoa Tham.
Area: 112,500 m², including one basement and four upper floors
Construction time: Started in December 2022, completed after April 30 - May 1, 2025
Service capacity: 20 million passengers per year, with 7,000 passengers passing through during peak hours

Vietnam Airlines information on Tan Son Nhat T3 terminal operations

Vietnam Airlines announced the schedule to transfer flights to this new terminal, bringing a more modern and convenient experience to passengers.

There are a few exceptions though. Vietnam Airlines domestic flights from/to Con Dao (VCS), Ca Mau (CAH), Rach Gia (VKG) and flights operated by BL and 0V (flight numbers VN6000-6999, VN8000-8999) are still operated at terminal T1.

Connection times at Tan Son Nhat airport

With the introduction of Terminal T3, passengers should note the minimum connection time (MCT) between terminals as there may be some changes from when you last travelled through here:

Domestic-to-domestic connection between T3 and T1 : 80 minutes
Domestic-to–international connection between T3 and T2 : 120 minutes

However, there are some special cases that require longer connection times:

Flights from Melbourne/Sydney (MEL/SYD) connecting at Tan Son Nhat (SGN) to Hanoi (HAN) or vice versa: 140 minutes
Flights from Taipei (TPE) connecting at Tan Son Nhat (SGN) to Phu Quoc (PQC) or vice versa: 170 minutes

Bamboo Airways moved all domestic flights to Tan Son Nhat Terminal T3

In August 2025, Bamboo Airways also officially transfered all domestic flights to and from Ho Chi Minh City to Tan Son Nhat Terminal T3. This is an important transition to adapt to the strategy of reorganizing the national aviation infrastructure and improving service quality for passengers.

Where is Tan Son Nhat T3 Terminal? Tan Son Nhat T3 Terminal is located in Ward 12, Tan Binh District , with the main entrance from 18E and C2 Streets. Important connecting routes to reach T3 Terminal include:

From Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Thu Duc City: Passengers can follow Pham Van Dong - Bach Dang - Truong Son, then pass the connecting route Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa to get to the station.
From the center of Ho Chi Minh City: The route Nam Ky Khoi Nghia - Nguyen Van Troi - Phan Thuc Duyen - Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa is a fast and convenient route.

3. Grab

If you want to save money or don't like waiting, Grab is a convenient option. You can book a GrabCar or GrabBike right on the app and choose the nearest pickup point. According to Tan Son Nhat airport regulations, drivers are not allowed to stop to pick up/drop off passengers for more than 3 minutes, so passengers need to quickly move to the pickup point to avoid congestion.
