Overview

Located about 8 km from central Honiara on Guadalcanal, the airport was originally built as the military airfield Henderson Field, a pivotal site in the WWII Pacific campaign, before being renamed Honiara International Airport in 2003. It's the country's primary international airport, with Munda Airport in Western Province serving as an alternate.
