City Hotel Alger

The 'superior' room was disappointingly small and dark with a view over a dirty back alley. Poor lighting and nowhere to sit. Rock hard bed and hard lumpy pillows. The better rooms had non-functioning A/C. The staff, however, were super kind and helpful.p

I started my check-in in French and after a few sentences, the clerk looked at my passport (American) and switched to English. If his English had been amazing, I would have thought "ok, rude, but fine' (I understand French isn't the official language) but his English was fine not great. Which just made for an awkward conversation. Both clerks insisted in speaking English to me. Other reviews mention the staff being unfriendly. I found them friendly, but in a "hey, come over and let us practice our English with you" sort of way, not in the practical or professional way that you would want in staff from a hotel. It just made coming and going uncomfortable because the desk is right next to the door. The awkwardness of the interactions with the staff was enough for me not to stay here again or recommend. Also there was no hot water 2 of 3 nights and no internet one night. That aside, the view and the balcony were amazing (I tried hard to look at images before my stay to determine if there was a true balcony or just a railing). It was small, but a true balcony and 2 people could sit there. I was on the top floor (5th/(6th American)). Honestly if there had just been self check-in my stay would have been much better.

personnel très professionnel ,propreté ,localisation stratégique, proximité du métro ,gare de train et pas loin de l'aéroport ,par contre la cafetière ,la théière ,le bouilloires et les verres sont inexistant dans la chambre même en faisant la demande n'ont pas étais offert pourtant ils sont inscrit sur le cite de l'hôtel c'est frustrant .

Really sad that the owner / management of the property showed no care to my case. I didn’t know that Algeria needed a visa which cannot be applied on arrival, needed 15 - 20’days costing a ridiculous amount of of money. I did call Expedia and explained my situation and the hotel simply said NO. I paid for a service i didn’t use and I would never ever set my foot in that hotel. Horrible service and an ugly outcome.

Very friendly staff, clean room with working internet connection which was perfect for my TC calls. Breakfast is overall basic but for the price it is worth it.

The best thing in this hotel is no smoking hotel 😊

Customer service unprofessional, not listening. I paid for a superior suit , finding myself in a double room with tho small sofa gathered to form a big one plus safe bank broke. In addition to that a very bad interest connection. I don’t suggest this hotel to anyone. Specially the high price doesn’t match th services. Regards, Fouad Boucetta

Hotel is situated at Centre of Algiers . Stay was comfortable .

Convenient location and friendly staff

Excellent place in a central location. The staff are super helpful and friendly. Excellent customer service. We stayed from 18-21 jan. don’t hesitate to book!

Location is good and the staff was very friendly

Really good location/base and the staff were very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. We would certainly recommend staying here. The lift only starting from floor 1 is a minor negative point but staff are always there and willing to help with luggage if needed also Wifi did cut out at times but not for long are the only minor negative points.

One of the staff in check in were rude and a layer. And make the whole experienced of staying in this hotel not pleasant. The quslity of this hotel is not worth the price I paid for.

We were impressed by The Professionalism of The Hotel staff and their kindness as well their hospitality. The Hotel has a very good Standard at a Great Price Performance. We will come back and we would recommend it to others visiting Algiers. Greetings to The Hotel reception!

Over all my experience staying in the hotel was Ok.The front desk staffs were very obliging.The hotel is lacking attention to details such as the room comfort,the mini bar fridge was bare,there were no complimentary coffee or tea provided eventhough there were a boiling kettle and one coffee cup.One tip is to avoid using the hotel car park as it was abit of a struggle to get in and out of the alley way. The hotel has got a lot of things going for it,its location,its esthetic but for sure there is a big area of improvement in terms of making any guest stay a memorable experience.

Our stay was excellent. Even with our late arrival the staff at reception were very kind, attentive and welcoming. Check-in was easy and quick. They informed us that our friend had already arrived and offered to call her for us so she could come down and say hi. They offered us water or a soft drink, which was much welcomed after a long flight. They were quick to send up extra towels and toiletries to our room when we asked. They helped us arrange taxis. They were simply wonderful. It made being in an unfamiliar foreign country so much less intimidating.

Pros-Cleanliness and Staff Cons- Location, lift, A/C, Breakfast

Pros: good location in center of Alger, very friendly and nice staff (especially Ali) always available to find you what you need, nice and spacious room with sea view (on 5th flour), clean and new, good amenities. Cons: neighborhood looks dangerous but fine after couple of days, not much do nearby, on a street with lot of traffic, old building renovated, the elevator is old too and makes a lot of noise that can be heard from all rooms.

Hotel staff is not completely honest. they pretend to be co-operative but if you are frequent traveler, you will understand their dicey behavior. For Business, you can stay.
