DoubleTree by Hilton Cairns

NO swimming pool and NO notice that the pool was under construction. Having Holy Saturday early morning interrupted by noise from the construction of the pool. Room smelt musty or wet and after a request of this rectification there was no follow up on our accommodation. Smoking on the balconies from others around us was a disgusting smell to walk out to when trying to enjoy the view of the construction Site below.

We were not notified that the pool was under renovation and not for guest use,we had to drive to another Hilton hotel for pool use,very diapointing

Staff were terrific. At the time of our stay the swimming pool was under renovation. The buffe breakfast was basic.

Hotel is comfortable but starting to look a little run diwn

Stay was amazing, staff is super friendly, the location is convenient & delectable breakfast. If I'm nitpicking I'd like to have had a nespresso machine instead of the other brand capsule machine which was incompatible with nespresso pods!

The rooms are clean and beds comfortable. The location is near shopping and many good resturants.

When it rains, the guest can borrow a huge umbrella to venture out. This really helps!

This is a nice chain hotel. The location is central and walking distance to restaurants. The grounds are exotic but they are in the middle of construction until July 2025. The pool is closed due to the construction. They do have reciprocity with the Hilton near the Fleet Terminal for pool access. The plans for the grounds when finished look beautiful. Breakfast is nice. The room is nice.

Room is nice and clean, location is perfect, close to many restaurants but outside busy areas.

Swimming pool out of service and under reconstruction, breakfast buffet average used to be really good 😌 staff seemed friendly and helpful a little too over helpful in dining room.

Liked the location. Shower rise was broken.

I booked this room very last minute and was pleasantly surprised at how great the rooms looked and felt. Bed was comfortable and made for a great night sleep. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful during my stay. Will definitely be booking again soon.

Nice hotel

Check in was good - given a warm choc chip cookie - not had that before - strange - was told we had an upgrade - however the room was small - large tv but not here to watch tv - bathroom was very small and no extra or fan so very humid and steamy when showering - So dread to know what the original booked room would have been like ! Air con not working all night although cool when we arrived at 5 pm - very uncomfortable night hot and humid didn’t sleep well at all bed not too great either to be honest - felt like in a boat each time partner turned over due to being uncomfortable with the heat - strange thing is air con literally started to work at 10.40 am just before we checked out at 11am - is this normal practice to save money ??? Does this happen in every room ? Seems strange - staff very friendly and polite - nice breakfast - but again not all about the food - more about a comfortable nights sleep - especially when you have to catch a flight the next day! - was offered a small refund on the cost $50 which was accepted - but personally will not book this hotel again - stayed in another hotel in Cairns two weeks ago which was cheaper - the room was huge - bathroom big with extractor - and had full control over the air con which is a major factor to me .

Older hotel which needs some sprucing up. Also currently under renovation in their pool area. They have a sister hotel nearby and if you want to swim you can walk or they will pay for an uber.
