Modern Fresh bathroom. Good value for an overnight stay in a convenient location. Not much space, they would benefit installing a lift and dressing rooms.

Wouldn’t recommend for a weekend night as it gets way too noisy. The bathroom was clean but it was dusty in the room. Had good room Mates that made the stay better or else would not recommend unless that’s the only option available

I liked the convenience. I didn't like the noise from the band/equipment which played so loudly until at least 4am that my locked window rattled continually & I had to turn off the air-con because it was also rattling from the noise waves. There was no powerpoint for the kettle provided - I had to move a bedside table to the opposite wall to boil the jug. A teaspoon would have also helped when making tea/coffee with the sachets provided. The wooden 'bath mat' at the shower door was dangerous - easily tripped over coming into the small but adequate bathroom. The bar staff who directed me to the correct entry on my arrival was very pleasant & the reception guy on departure was also pleasant but the member of staff who received me was much less so - very curt & unwelcoming.

By the time we got to the hostel there was no reception so we had to make some phone calls to get into our room. Once we got inside it was fairly nice but it smelt a bit funny and damp, we got the private room we had requested! Only small but plenty of room just to watch tv and sleep. But again it smelt stuffy and damp. When we left in the morning reception wasn’t in so we just handed back our card and left.

There is a club downstairs so it’s very noisy at night. The common space is on the rooftop with limited seating space indoor. The staff hours are very limited just from 10:00-14:00 if you miss them, you have to wait another day.

I arrived at the hostel around 02:35pm and there was just a woman saying the reception was close She pointed out a sign saying their reception is open from 10:30am till 02:30pm which is totally ridiculous On the site it exactly says check-in time from 2pm till 4pm I could actually go there earlier around 11am I didn’t even sleep last night before the stay I stayed at the Village Broadway only because I needed to use the free 1 night award The woman called a manager and handed over her phone to me They said my key card was in the mail box and I didn’t need to be checked ID and pay deposit for the card Their service is completely a mess They didn’t send any email and inform me the checkin process However, for the facilities, they were pretty fine No free continental breakfast though I stayed at The Village Kingsbury Cross, they did provide basic bread, jam, peanut butter, milk, coffee and tea I dunno how come they don’t have them at Broadway

The worst hostel experience ever. I would not stay here again & do not recommend. The basement bar has live bands that play till 3am and then the hostel hallways fill with people from that bar. The staff is hardly there and the place was dirty everywhere. Not to mention the entrance is hidden in a sketchy alley way.

The staff were amazing, facilities are decent for a hostel, location is amazing. Other people in my dorm were super inconsiderate and the girl on the bunk below me had loud drunk sex at 2am while I was trying to sleep. My bottom sheet had someone else’s hair all over it and an old blood stain when I arrived.

Overall a good stay. The kitchen appliances need updating as most the pans don’t have handles and can be very dangerous. The rooms are fairly clean, comfy bed. Nice people in the hostel but could do with some social activity

Good location, could be a bit cleaner but when asked they did clean better. Kitchen needs better and safer utilities etc, forks, spoons, pans with handles, and a fan as extremely hot in there bit unbearable to cook! 4 bed dorm very pleasant, comfy bed and duvets, en suite smells quite bad but overall good hostel, small and friendly people

The village has a lot of good things going for it: 1. Location - across road from Broadway shopping centre; 5 min walk to cafes and Saturday markets; 2km to Central station or King Street cafes, pubs and restaurants; a gigantic park across the road with a pool. 2. Facilities are all new - mattresses are very comfy; my room had large lockable lockers under the bunks, an ensuite with toilet, shower and basin. Water pressure was great and hot water didn't seem to run out and does get quite hot; the was a digital tv with remote and air conditioning; each bed has it own light, power socket and USB connection. 3. Helpful staff - I was a late check in so key was able to be left somewhere convenient for after hours collection; when there was an issue with my key, which was out of my control, an alternative was presented which worked well for both parties and a staff member (I think Ellen?) was in contact a few times to discuss. I didn't use kitchen or common area bathrooms or go out on the balcony but all these were available. Biggest downfall: The club underneath the hostel! I stayed from a Sunday and checked out the following Sunday. Only night I was not being jolted by the subwoofer until 12 or 2 am was either Tuesday or Wednesday night. The reverberations through the window panes means shutting the windows will only nullify the drunk smokers and the ample traffic noise. Headphones playing music helped to lessen the impact, slightly, of the bass.

I was in Sydney for the night to see a band at the Lansdowne Hotel, which is downstairs. Even though the pub was still going with loud music when I climbed up the stairs to crash, I couldn't hear it in my room. The place feels like a hostel because most of it is, and I liked that natural non-corporate feel. The woman at reception was cool and had me checked in in no time. The bed was super comfortable and yes there were power points and USB points at the head of the bed for my devices (although I only needed the USB). Air con was good and also quiet, it's all very nice and new. Had a big TV but I didn't use it so not sure of quality. Close to buses, Central Station and shops and not far to CBD. Room is small but big enough for a few nights if you wanted to stay longer. On the negative side, there was a soap dispenser next to the sink but nothing in the shower and I didn't see any toiletries. Towels were quite small and the pillows were too thin to use on their own but too thick to use two. Not an abundance of tea and coffee but I didn't use them anyway. In all a perfect location to spend the night if you want a cheap room but don't want to share with strangers.
