We enjoyed our stay here, especially the great location, the kitchenette, and the free drinking water. It's close to many tour booking agencies, the port, and lots of restaurant options.

Do yourself a favour and stay away from this place. There was no manager or receptionist was at the property for check-in. The cleaning lady called in a drunkard who tore up our reservation. We got a completely different room from what we booked. Bugs everywhere.

Upon arrival there was no one to check us in. Thankfully another traveller, who had had the same experience, showed us where the office was (to the right of the hostel, big red stairs) but it was closed. He then directed us to a travel agent who might have her number. After several attempts to call her she finally got ahold of her. After a long travel day this sucked and we found out others had the same experience. The hostel was in a great location but it was loud so bring earplugs. The rooms were fine and a good size but we were put in a large room first and then were asked to switch rooms after two days. The second room had a fridge so we were happy with that. What we really didn't like was how often they let themselves into our room. They would go in to turn the AC off, which we started to do when we left the room, but also a fella that seemed to maybe work there just opened our door while we were in there one day too. It was odd. They claimed to have safes in the room, there weren't any. The showers had hot water but it was either scalding or cold with no water pressure. They ran out of drinking water and didn't replenish it for a full day. If you aren't to finiky, this place is worth the price with the location alone.

This was the least expensive accommodation when I made my reservation and my review takes that into consideration. Central location was beneficial when getting groceries, going out for meals, sightseeing, and going scuba diving with Shark Bay. Water leaked from toilet tank onto bathroom and bedroom floor and when informed staff did not offer to take care of it. Staff also turned off air conditioner when I was out hiking and when I returned after lunch it took a couple hours for the room to cool.

The property does not have any arrivals desk. When we found the sign for the Hostal we couldn’t find any indication of an office or someone to talk to. We walked up 2 flights of steps and found a cleaning lady who spoke no English but motioned for us to go back downstairs. Eventually someone from the shop across the street went and found and a man in a building up the street who came and led us back up the stairs and pointed to the room that was ours. No words were exchanged, passports weren’t shown, no many given. We didn’t have any interaction with anyone else until 3 nights later when the same man reappeared with a bill which we paid promptly. Rooms were large, spacious, clean. Bed comfortable. Windows locked and air con worked. Bathroom smelled of sewer which we managed to stop by placing a wet towel over the shower drain. Shower consistently ran scalding hot (very dangerous) and icy cold. Towels were clean but old and some stains. Room was cleaned daily and disinfectant used in bathroom (smell of Clorox when we returned to the room). The staircase was dark but had motion sensor lights that worked well at night.

Simple, basic rooms with your own en-suite and cheap and chips. Our own little balcony was gorgeous as well to sit and people watch. The linen and towels were old but it’s another factor which drives down the price. The bed was comfortable and we were so close to everything! A minimart across the road and the tour operator next door. Would definitely stay again

I liked how it was close to the harbor and it was close to everything so we didn’t have to take a taxi as much . The employees were nice and respectful. What I didn’t like was the broken shower head, and the bathroom always had nasty smell it wouldn’t go away. But other than that it was a nice stay.

There was no office to check in. Thankfully we meet a nice local who knew the woman who ran the hostel, he was able to call her to give us our key. We meet another couple travelers who had the same problem checking in. Other than that it was a great stay. There was a fridge and hot plate in the room we used to cook breakfast on with their dishes. It was a block away from a street that closes down every night to host all the local food. It was a little loud but every place is doing to be loud in the middle of town. They came in and cleaned every day too.

Good value for the money. Spent four nights in Puerto Ayora and booked here the first night. Decided to stay for another three. Rooms are clean and they only have a few of them so it's not busy. There is pretty much no sound barrier from outside noise so it's pretty loud. Air conditioning works great. Far as I can tell they don't actually offer the meals or the front desk that they claim on here. Over all you get a clean comfortable room. What more can you expect for the price.

Stayed for 2 nights, received maid service. Room was comfortable but basic. Felt safe. This unit was located away from the posted address for check-in but the lady took us by taxi to this room and got us settled. She paid for the taxi.

The web site said a 24 hour reception desk but we got there and there is no reception desk, and no one was there. We tried to call and couldn't reach the owner. Eventually a local person helped us and called the owner. We waited outside for over an hour. Terrible way to start your stay in the Galapagos. However the room was spacious with good AC. The shower was not good, the drain was clogged and we basically showered in a big puddle. Also couldn't get a steady warm water, the water was either to hot or to cold. Would not recommend. But if you have to stay only one night (before or after a cruise like we did) it's ok, Just make sure you call in advance and let them know you are coming so you won't find yourself stuck outside in the sun with all your luggage.

I arrived to find no one around.Next door, a Tour Company woman found the owner who came fairly quickly.Never saw her again.Once, met the cleaning lady, Carmen.Rooms cleaned every day/towels changed. One room on main floor, all others are upstairs-no elevator.Rooms are basic, with about 3 beds/room plus small ensuite bathroom.I found the bed comfortable(for me).Air conditioner was very quiet--godsend for the heat/humidity.ALL toilet paper goes in the covered wastebasket--necessary.Liquid soap was in a dispenser that didn't work. I took it off the wall, propped it on the sink, scooped what I needed from the top. Puerto Ayora is busy with lots of traffic. Many inexpensive taxis-white Toyota Hilux trucks. Main pier water taxis take you to Punta Estrada/Finch Bay dock where you can walk to several beaches plus Tortuga Bay,Las Salinas,Las Grietas.Charles Darwin Research Centre is interesting with turtles to observe and several buildings with displays. Very walkable town, except for the heat.Take plenty of water wherever you go/use sunscreen!A section of Charles Binford Street closes at 6 pm;becomes Calle de Kioskos where cafe tables/chairs are put in the middle of the street. You choose which cafe you want to buy your meal from and sit in the middle to eat--cheap meriendas with large portions plus more expensive dishes available. Amusing pelicans at the Fish Market. Street signage is badly lacking. Some streets have several names, adding to the confusion.Maps need updating.

This is what the description says: Property Features Along with concierge services, this hostal has laundry facilities and a 24-hour front desk. Free WiFi in public areas and free self parking are also provided. Other amenities include a front-desk safe. Room Amenities All 5 rooms offer free WiFi, flat-screen TVs with cable channels, and free bottled water. Other amenities available to guests include ceiling fans, showers, and free toiletries. We would never have found this place if we didn't have a local guide because we were not housed at Hostal Miconia, rather, someone from the hostel directed our cab driver to what looked like a private house, with no staff, no check-in, absolutely no one, no TV in room which I don't really care about, one working light bulb, disconnested smoke detector (the battery was dead so they had just taken it down and left it), no public area, no parking, no Internet, no toilet paper, no soap, an army of ants in the room, and NO ONE to talk to about any of this because there was no staff. Second story en-suite room in what was clearly a house. No markings anywhere on the building that would have identified it as a hotel/hostel/motel.
