Bull Hotel Halstead by Greene King Inns

I booked 4 rooms for my husband and 3 others. On line the rooms looked ok for the cost. However my husbands bathroom was pretty naff and no one had hot water in the morning for a Shower. When they advised this upon check out the lady just said there wasn’t any yesterday either 😳. Not Really what you want to hear …a partial refund would probably have helped redeem the hotel.

Nice breakfast and bar area Water was freezing in shower and small shower space Bed was smaller than a standard double and tv didn’t work either despite asking several times

Felt at ease and very welcome soon as we arrived. All staff where very friendly and helpful.

Had to get 3 room's before one was just ok . The place is dreadful

Ok for an overnight stay, friendly staff and comfortable bed. Building was very warm. Bathroom had mould.

Hotel has plenty of parking available, was quiet in the room

I had a really good stay - the breakfast and service was excellent and room very comfortable. I did find the room a little too warm though. The main light was not working and there were no rubber bath mats to stand on in the shower. I was however given a bath towel to use instead. I was hoping to make use of the extra pillows in the wardrobe, but unfortunately there was a vomit-like smell in the wardrobe which had permeated the pillows. Consequently I didn't hang any clothes in there. The staff were lovely and I was made to feel very welcome. I would return if visiting that part of the country again.

Lovely old building, but the uneven floors means that the beds may or may not be level which made it a little hard for me to sleep.

Basic services but ideal hotel for our stay, especially with pub/restaurant below. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

Very noisy Music Nights until 12.00am Soap and Coffee making in room not topped up. Vey old building lots of trip hazards and steep stairs not suitable for disabled.

Reasonable priced, friendly staff

This is a very run down hotel. I was put in the annex area so I can’t speak for the rooms in the pub. The room I was in (room 16) was very dated, the bathroom was not nice. There seems to be holes in the floor around the toilet which they have replaced but not put in properly. There is a strong smell in the room of mustiness and uncleanliness. The bathroom wasn’t cleaned before I arrived as the toilet was not flushed, there was hair in the sink and the toilet roll hadn’t been changed. The bed is lumpy and uncomfortable. I can’t say I will come back here again and it’s not worth the cost.

Nice stay and value for money, food is well priced, would stay again.

Double booked our room so could not stay there Ben booked us in to White Hart Braintree instead

Was a bit noisy- function room underneath Windows had been left open - rooms well aired but heating off so couldn't warm the room easily/quickly

Very old and tired. In need of up-grade

Liked the historical quaint qualities about the hotel. Food was good and the prices were very reasonable.
