This is a fantastic hotel for a visit to Canterbury. Absolutely central to everything you come to Canterbury to see, but has the added bonus of being a hotel you look forward to coming back to at the end of the day. It feels like coming home. The staff, the ambience, the furnishing seem designed to create a feeling of welcome. Ask the staff about it's history as well. It's been here even longer than the Cathedral Gate that anchors it. Highly recommend if you like hotels that are story worthy. I'll definitely return.

Amazing location, right in the centre of Canterbury, actually built into the cathedral gate. We were made to feel really welcome by all the staff. Given a choice of rooms and early check-in. Very interesting building with lots of steps and wonky floors, would not recommend if you are infirm. Room had a wonderful view of the cathedral, but was very quiet. Lovely hot and powerful shower. Room and all shared areas were clean and well decorated, carpets clean too. Breakfast was really good, it was continental plus! Good fruit fresh salad, porridge and croissants were amazing. Coffee was strong and fresh, orange juice excellent too, all quality products

Be careful, it’s easy to accidentally book a room with SHARED bathroom facilities! This place is so charming but the rooms facing the main street are LOUD with young men yelling well until 11pm or so. Getting to the hotel can be tricky as well. Need to go past bollards into the pedestrian zone. No a/c no elevator and the parking lot is public and a few blocks away but reasonable. Breakfast is minimal, no eggs…

Quirky environment, but pleasing. Very limited view of cathedral despite advertising room had a view. Very handy for visit to cathedral and view city. Breakfast room overlooks historic city centre. Car access to hotel through barriers somewhat tedious as was "not on site" parking. Overall totally enjoyable stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay in this almost 8 century old hotel with Alice in Wonderland maze of hallways, tilted floors and lichen/moss encrusted roof tiles. Location is perfect, rooms quiet/clean, beds comfortable, staff kind and welcoming.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location. Rooms are nice and clean. Breakfast was good. Very quirky old building - all floors slope in a different direction which is rather characterful but walls between rooms are very thin. Would be happy to stay again.

Good stay. Excellent welcome and service fro reception. Very old but very clean throughout. White bed linen and white towels. Actually next door to the cathredral. Parking would be challenging but for the good arrangement between hotel and city council which makes it pretty easy. Overall we were well pleased with our stay.
