My sec f trip to this hotel, I always get a great welcome and nothing is too much trouble. Love the location and grounds too. A swimming m and steam in the morning was great although the charge to guests staying at the hotel I thought was steep.

Stayed here 4 nights, first impressions were good but slightly dated. Curtain was hanging off rail, which was promtly fixed. But hook was just took off other end so that end was hanging off!. The matteress was quite hard , but everyone likes their own bed. The room was clean and catered for our needs. We did use the hotel breakfast option , which was ok apart from the bacon which was very dried out, and tough to eat. We chose this hotel as it was close to family and it was convenient, and we would use it again.

We had stayed in this hotel many times when it was a Marriott, and once when changed to Britannia. Since our last visit the public areas have been redecorated and bedrooms too (but not new furniture). The hotel is convenient for us in Newcastle and has ample parking, although now has ANPR and you need ro gregister yout card. Leisure centre is now a chargeable extra. We plan to return soon.

All though we had a reasonable stay, the room could have been cleaner and the broken fan removed. The hotel itself is very tired and in need of some renovations. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The grounds and gardens are rather neglected with quite a lot of rubbish around. I guess however that this is one of the better Britannia hotels to stay in

Awful experience. Drunk people banging on our hotel door at 2am supposedly looking for a friend, scared my wife and kids. Drunk blokes sat outside drinking, shouting, and swearing every night until the early hours. Feels like a hotel for blokes on the lash - definitely not a hotel to stay at with your family. Communal areas look nice but rooms are very shabby.

The bed in the small double was very hard and could feel the springs in the mattress. Walking to the room the corridors were fairly unkempt between main property and lower rooms (508). This particular area felt quite sterile. Staff were very nice and Victoria in particular who was running the restaurant was really excellent. The pool facilities were also very good. Overall the hotel was good and the staff ran it well considering ladies day at the races made it rather busy. Although the small double is a budget friendly option I do feel the room food do with a little upgrading - new mattress etc
