Great hotel. Stayed here on a solo travel trip. Relaxing bar in the lobby and close to the main shopping/bar areas in York. Would stay here again.

Check in was easy, quick and friendly, lovely place to walk into. Room was easy to find, basic but comfy, no wardrobe but a place to put your case and hang your coat. Lots of different level lighting which was nice. Kettle, cups and some tea and coffee provided in the room and a decent size tv. Great black out curtains. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided but i didnt use it as i brought my own. The breakfast menu was fab, lots of variety from continental with pastries and breads and a variety of cold meats and cheeses, yogs and fruit, cooked breakfast with sausage, bacon, hash browns, mushrooms, scrambled egg and beans, also cereals, pancakes, waffles and donuts. Lots of toppings for toast and sweet treat. Coffee machine, teas, juices and smoothies for drinks choices. There was a sign to say gluten free bread available, we didnt need it but good to know if you do. Staff were efficient at getting you checked in for breakfast and its all self serve. Staff were friendly and helpful when we needed them. The bar is nice and stocks a good variety. There are also sweets and snacks to purchase. The lobby has a pool table, some games dotted about and lots of seating which is great, its big but warm and feels cozy still.

Upon arrival we were told that we had booked on a room only basis. Breakfast would have been an additional £15 per person per night. When I checked my booking, it did say that breakfast was included. So glad I didnr pay the £15. Terrible breakfast. Luke warm, sausages as hard as bricks and poor quality ingredients. Trying to eat breakfast with people screaming playing table football at 8am. The place had more of a youth club/hostel vibe than the quirky/cool hotel we were expecting. Hotel gubby. Seats stained. Bathroom accessories dirty on top. Empty Prosecco bottle under our bed. Bedroom window didn’t close properly which meant it was cold and noisy at times. Generally run down. Nice staff. Comfortable bed. Would never choose a Moxy hotel again.
