The Gateway Hotel

Clean room, excellent breakfast, well laid out and clean bathroom. Access to the top floor bedrooms is a little tight with very steep stairs, and the bed was a little firm. Views were fantastic, and the terrace is really nice on a sunny evening.

I have stayed at the hotel on a number of occasions and do so because I have confidence that it will be clean and well maintained. This is in contrast to a number of occasions where I have experienced disappointment when staying at other hotels. The general amenity of the Gateway is extremely pleasant and the staff have managed a relaxing and comfortable public area.

Hotel looks great, rooms well decorated (could only recommend a room fan or cooler for the hotter days we see), bed comfortable, food amazing, staff friendly and helpful.

We stayed overnight at The Gateway Inn for a nearby family function and it was absolutely lovely - we wish we could have stayed longer and definitely intend to come back. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the rooms and bar/restaurant are all comfortably and beautifully finished. Our room was impeccably cleaned, furnished beautifully and had lovely amenities included (toiletries and tea/coffee, biscuits). Do pay attention to the hotel’s flag when booking about some rooms being less accessible to some patrons. We had to use quite a small, curved staircase part of the way to get to the room. The room at the end was well worth it and it was not an issue for us but it might be more difficult to use for others. The breakfast was delicious too and reasonably priced. We’re definitely going to try and visit again for a longer stay rather than a quick stop over.

Always a great stay here - staff are so welcoming. Rooms are great - ive stayed here multiple times and never been disappointed. Highly recommend to stay here. Ive eaten here too and food is proper great restaurant esq pub grub

Nice convenient location to Kendal and Windermere as long as you have a car. Parking was good. Had a nice pub/restaurant with pretty views. Room and bathroom clean. Stairs up to the room not for everyone, very steep and narrow. Overall good stay for our one night. Would stay again.

Beautifully designed and comfortable hotel. Dog friendly which made all the difference to us being able to stay. Pleasant staff.

Breakfast was nice but choice a bit limited as was the main menu. Otherwise no complaints and the food was well presented and tasty. Staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. The room was clean and well equipped.

Lovely hotel - fantastic set up. We booked a family room and really impressed - double bed and bunk beds with an internal door to separate the two rooms. Both with a seating area and tvs. Gorgeous location and staff were very helpful.
