Historic hotel in a lovely market town. Very clean, reasonably priced, excellent breakfast. Dinner was tasty but perhaps the portion was a bit stingy. Miles is an excellent waiter and all round go-to person. Very personable.

The room was clean and the bedding spotless alas no chairs to relax in and I was given a superior room but a booked a luxury room. The lounge bar although ready on the evening was closed during the day for some carpentry works The property was cold as was the room so sleep didn’t come easily. The windows condensated up and yes it was jolly cold The manager was helpful and kind but nevertheless the stay wasn’t comfortable

If you want an authentic old English Hotel then this is for you. It was really old with oak beams everywhere but still clean. Pub seems to be the Hub of the village so also a good vibe. The village is really really quiet

We enjoyed our stay very much, the staff very friendly and helpful, food excellent, room spotlessly clean, would definitely return. Only issue for me with mobility issues was climbing into big bathtub with overhead shower and no grab handle! My fault should have enquired prior to booking! Cranbrook proved to be an excellent choice for visiting many places on my 'to do' list.

DISAPPOINTING - Yes the The George Hotel has history, we had room4 which is supposed to be one of the best rooms . Lighting was poor only one ceiling light worked and that was above the bed canopy. The flooring beneath the carpet was so uneven, I doubt the timbers supporting the floor were fit for purpose. Then there was the hazard 0f 2 steps into the ensuite, different size treads and different height risers, an accident waiting to happen. The one redeeming feature was the staff, without exception they were wuelcoming, efficient and friendly. In particular a young man ( I believe his name was Miles or Milo) he was working pretty much at the run and seemed to be always on duty . He carried our bags up to o0⁰0ur room and down and out to our car when we left. If The George wants to keep him they need to look after him, I imagine there are many superior hotels in the area who would snap up such a hardworking, willing and charming young man. In conclusion the menu was good and varied both for breakfast and dinner, portions generous as well.

Stayed in the Heather room, beautiful old features, very comfortable. Spa bath switch jammed 'on' so had to be controlled by pull cord by door and plug leaked, couldn't relax in it as jets set to full power and on all the time. Food, bar and service were a great, very warm and friendly. Would recommend the venue.. But not that room.

From the moment we walked into the reception, we were made to fill very welcome. All the staff are very friendly and make conversation with you and genuinely want to make sure you have a pleasant stay. We had a large room and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was probably the best I've had at a hotel. We will definitely be returning.
