It was a late booking so had little choice on room and it was a little stuffy.
However this is more than compensated for by the amazing staff, so happy and helpful.

The staff were friendly and efficient. We had a problem with no heat. It was fixed later the same evening. The room was comfortable and very quiet. There was some minor construction nearby that was not an issue. I expected more space for the price but it was acceptable and the location was great. We were happy we chose it.

Upshot: Friendly staff but I would not stay here again.
The hotel is in a wonderful area, but the rooms themselves and property are very outdated, and small, even the king suite. Depending on the floor and room its all a bit musty smelling. I do like that it all feels like you’re on a cruise ship.
Big recommendation: if you have a room with a tub/shower be EXTREMELY CAREFUL. They have a nonslip mat in there that somehow makes it more slippery unless it is 100% suctioned down when it’s dry, and no soap present. My mom put it down to be careful because of the weird height of the tub, and ended up slipping because of the mat. She hit her face and ended up in the ER for most of the day and got a nasty black eye. The staff was very responsive and they gave us a reimbursement for the cab to the hospital, and as soon as they could then downgraded the room size to one that had a walk in shower. If I were them I would have been refunding a LOT more than that. They offered us some free drinks at the bar. To a woman that had just gotten a concussion they offered a solution of free drinks.

Hotel is charming and staff is most accommodating. We didn’t have a phone in our room and though it was reported the first day of a weeks visit, we never got one. We had a suite which was spacious and comfortable. The breakfast bar was very nice and much more varied than many.

Very nice hotel with pleasant and responsive staff. In Fitzrovia area of London - lots of restaurants, cafes and independent shops around. The problem is the construction: they are renovating the building next door and possibly using part of the hotel (north corridor) to move workers and materials around. Despite the staff assurances that construction is from 10 to 5 ish daily, the banging and hammering usually starts at 8 30 am Monday to Saturday and goes to 4 30 or 5 pm. Don't plan to nap or sleep in the hotel during the day. I was on 4th floor and seriously thought of changing hotels but the surrounding ones of equal quality were booked. I hope for the sake of future travellers this construction will be over soon as it is a major pain in the ass and can be heard on at least the top 2 floors. I was not warned of the construction on booking - it was an unpleasant surprise. Otherwise the hotel is clean, has bigger rooms and great service. We had a great weekend stay at the Rathbone. The location was fabulous, being only a few minutes walk away from Oxford St and theatre land for the shows, and just around the corner from the hotel there are lots of pubs, restaurants and shops.
Our room was very comfortable and quiet, with a super king bed, nice linens and fluffy towels, plus other nice furnishings and a good shower in the ensuite.
The room and hotel generally was well finished and maintained. Lobby, reception area, bar and dining areas all looked great with a classic Older London hotel look and opulent finishes.
The staff were very friendly and attentive and dealt with a minor issue of maintenance immediately.
Thanks for a lovely stay! We'll be back, if returning to the area.

Booked by my husband as a birthday surprise. A great hotel in a quiet part of Fitzrovia though walking distance to many bars and eateries.
The staff were warm, friendly and welcoming - both at the front desk, and at breakfast. The room was lovely with a super comfortable bed. The continental breakfast was delicious and we enjoyed the Spanish options too.
All in all a brilliant stay. Will stay again for sure.

Nice, at the right price. Location can’t be faulted in the middle of magical Fitzrovia and on the edge of Soho. Lovely staff. Nice, small lounge area and bar at reception. The rooms are spotlessly clean, but dated, like a reminder of hotels from the 70s and 80s. My price was €160 for my night, which was acceptable - but if the price had been much higher I would have been less content. Would happily stay again at the right price point.
