Have stayed at this hotel (former railway station) a number of times now and cannot fault it. It is well maintained, set in lovely gardens with beautiful trees. The swimming pool is secure and surrounded by comfortable sun beds with towels supplied. Our room was in the garden with a small outdoor but quite private area with a table and two chairs. The bedroom was well appointed with a very comfortable bed and spacious wardrobe area and small desk. Air conditioning was very effective and silent. A separate toilet and spacious bathroom with a walk in shower added to the overall sense of space and the walls and curtains were in modern neutral colours. But what really makes this hotel stand out is the management and staff: courteous, attentive, professional and friendly. Little touches such as escorting you too your room and offering to take your bags are truly appreciated. Although we did not avail ourselves of the breakfast this time, (because we went to the local antique market at the crack of dawn) past experiences were extremely favourable. This is a hotel where you genuinely feel welcome and one where you can actually see the management and staff take pride.

Second time we have stayed here. Staff are very obliging and professionally friendly without being obtrusive Nice pool and garden area to relax in. Room was quite spacious (European standards), bright and airy The air conditioner was temporarily out of order so they set up an electric fan to circulate the air and with the windows open, it was a very pleasant night’s sleep in a very comfortable bed.

There was a calm, genteel feel to the hotel and grounds, a sense of grandeur past. The staff were helpful and polite. The grounds were lovely and we enjoyed having a leisurely breakfast in the gardens. It would have been good to have some help taking heavy bags up the stone stairs as there did not seem to be a lift/elevator.

Beautiful hotel with plenty of secure parking in what used to be the Sommieres Railway Station. They have done a top quality restoration, preserving many of the original features and the hotel is tastefully decorated with artwork highlighting it’s history. Immaculately clean and very good service. Swimming pool is a decent size with a good number of sun beds and towels supplied. 10 min walk to the centre of Sommieres where there is a fantastic selection of restaurants. The only criticism is that the room was a little small as we both had quite a large suitcase but overall a really enjoyable stay.

We stayed here for 5 nights on our way back from Spain as part of our 17 night road trip and it was beautiful, calm, quaint and set in a lovely village. I say village but I think more of a small town because when you walk the small walk into where the restaurants and bars are little alley ways lead into markets and we were lucky one night to come across a food and wine market. The hotel itself is immaculate and smells gorgeous. The breakfast in our opinion was over priced for what was on offer. There is plenty of secure parking, outdoor seats and hammocks and the pool area is spotlessly clean and well cared for. Behind the grounds of the hotel is the old railway track which is now a clean little road that went for miles (I enjoy a good walk but met several cyclists) there is no bar but you can get a bottle of wine of an evening and sit out but I think the staff leave around 9.30-10pm. The creperie and the end of the bridge was our favourite place to eat on an evening and had a wide menu not like it's name suggests but there is plenty of choices to dine in. We enjoyed a couple of trips to the beach in le grande mott which was about half hour drive and it also has a lovely harbour. All in all we loved this place and it's surrounding areas.

I was in the hotel Estelou only one night but I appreciated the decoration and presentation of this original hotel built in an old railway station. night was perfect and calm. No noise around, absolutely fantastic garden on the back and a very friendly service added to the pleasure to stay in this hotel. The only thing perhaps to note is that the room was small and very simply equipped at the level of the bathroom. To note that no air conditioning in summer in the south of France can be a problem for some of the guests. Good stay in my opinion, good hotel but perhaps difficult to appreciate in only one night.

We lived in France thirty years ago, and for our first nights back in the country we wanted the essence of French village life. We picked Sommieres not having been there before and the Hotel Estelou, and we could not have done better. A short drive from the airport in Montpellier, Sommieres is stunning, with street after ancient, winding street and cafes and restaurants. We could be completely self-contained there. The hotel is a short walk from the center and right next to a long bicycle trail. It is immaculate and the staff extremely friendly. The only thing we'd change next time is to request a room with a window that opens. Our room was air-conditioned and comfortable, opening onto the incredible terrace and large pool. The town offers lots of walking, and the Roman bridge over the Vidourle offers lovely views, one of which is now my screen saver. From Sommieres, you are an hour or less from an incredible number of other villages clinging to hillsides, from the beaches, from the Pont du Gard and Nimes and Avignon, and the list goes on. Highly recommended.
