The room was sold to us as "reduced from about 400€ to about 100€, which is a total scam. This is a two-tier property, with a very nice building in front and a much lower quality building in the back. And guess where the 100€ room was located. The room and bathroom were clean and had everything that's needed for a one-night stay, but at a pretty low level. Furniture was simple and dated, it didn't look anything like the pictures, which are from the front building. The receptionist was rude, or maybe there was a language barrier, his English was rather poor. The only highlight was the breakfast, which was excellent, as well as the serving staff.

Comfortable bed, very good complete breakfast and no expensive.at $10 euros p/p . The hotel location is in the city. (The only thing happened during our stay the street was closed for working, and had complications with the car to get there but that is temporary issue and only if you have to get with car) . Other than that hotel is.very nice and good updated.

The hotel is in an excellent location, close to shopping, restaurants, and transportation into Basel. The tourist card available at the hotel makes all of the public transportation free.
The hotel was nice and exactly what our group of 5 needed. Dont miss out on the breakfast! What a value for the 10 euros per person!
One warning...there are stairs. MANY stairs. Yes, there is a small elevator, but it only gets you from the parking below the building up to the landing before reception area. That was the only negative to this wonderfully quirky hotel.

The image shown on Expedia, of the front of the hotel is kind of misleading. The bottom portion of the front of the hotel is a restaurant and not the hotel itself. The hotel reception is hidden behind the building where you have to walk a couple of stairs left and right to get to the reception. The front of the hotel looks nice, but inside is not as full of character as this suggests. The room was clean and adequately equipped, and the underground parking was useful. For a “pet friendly” establishment it was disappointing to be told that dogs were not allowed in the breakfast room and there were no other options for where we could take breakfast, so we declined. I suspect we wouldn’t have been allowed to leave our dog in the room, and I wouldn’t have done that anyway. In close proximity to the hotel there are lots of nice places to eat, which was good. There was a communal balcony area which we expected to be able to use (nobody else was out there whenever we went passed) but we were told that this was reserved for “other guests”… not sure how much more than €100+ per night one needs to pay to be allowed on a communal balcony! But there were no other outside areas to sit. Overall, very underwhelming.

Sehr nettes und hilfsbereites Personal. Sehr gutes grosszügiges Frühstück. Auch das Zimmer war sehr gut und sauber. Ich kann das Hotel nur empfehlen. (Übrigens im gleichen Haus gibt es auch eine Pizzeria die auch sehr zu empfehlen ist.)

Superbly located in the centre of the town, with easy links to the excellent German public transport system (which is effectively free to tourists). Extremely helpful staff, and served what was probably the best value (both quality and price) breakfast we have had in similar standard hotels, and free coffee all day long!
