The hotel was great. Great location. Nice room. Good breakfast. Parking is a bit of an issue. The free parking lot is an not far but a long uphill stair climb. If you have issues with stairs not sure this would be the place to stay. Your vehicle can drive to the hotel to drop off bags and people, but the driver will have to climb about 150 stairs after the car is parked in the free lot.

When I arrived at the hotel that was booked and confirmed through Expedia, I was told that my reservation had not been booked and that the hotel was full. Luckily the hosts booked me another hotel so that I did not spend the night in my car! I will NEVER use Expedia again since I have already emailed them about this problem and they haven't even gotten back to me!

Great location difficult to get to by car but Mateo the evening clerk was fantastic he helped us get to the hotel and our friend to hers he found us an open pharmacy he suggested a pizzeria and the second night a restaurant and both were spot on. Clean and tidy breakfast could benefit from an upgrade. Location couldn’t be better. Good value.

Our stay was amazing, from beeing greeted by friendly Matteo who showed us to our cozy and clean room,recommendations for good Restaurants, quiet nights sleep to a delicious breakfast buffet.( local salami and cheese,freshly baked cakes,fresh fruitsalad,croissants( on and on), to best coffee in Italy). We loved our stay and highly recommend the La Locanda

Easy to find if you park in the lower car parks to unload your luggage, hotel just inside the City Gate. Then free car park directions provided by the Hotel. Room was very comfortable at the rear of the hotel, so quiet, only lovely bird song in the morning.

Located on a primary street about 2 blocks from the town center near the Roman theater. Attractive hotel which was convent and a school. Room was large and comfortable. A lot of traffic exits the adjacent city gate in the morning which can be a problem on a street side room if you sleep late. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The front desk staff spoke English and answered all of our questions.

Lovely hotel within the walls of this beautiful city. Staff was very accommodating. Free parking at base of the hill, with a number of stairs to climb up, so plan on the exercise! There are parking spaces for loading luggage just outside the gate. We had a room facing the street and had no problems with noise even with open windows, but it is off season.

Look no further: This is a wonderful small hotel in lovely Volterra. Room was spacious and the shower was the best we had in Tuscany! Continental breakfast and fine cappuccino included. The staff was extremely welcoming and helpful (especially Jenny!). We would happily return to La Locanda. Highly recommended. (Note parking is permitted only outside city walls.)

Receptionist very helpful, when we asked for wine glasses gave us bowl grapes and strawberries nice touch. Breakfast good. Great location within walls. free parking in public area but 230 steps. Had economy room very small. hairdryer not the best.
