The front desk people were very helpful and patient. We were very close to downtown and could buy a converter just a few blocks from the hotel. It is a nice property with cute balconies. Breakfast at the terrace was nice and relaxing.

We had a wonderful stay. The room was super clean and the person who greeted us was wonderful, no complaints at all. It just so happens that the sea right across from it has a sewage line and walking towards it from under the bridge was a nasal nightmare. With a car you are absolutely okay to stay here because you can drive to a cleaner swimming spot.

3rd floor. No elevator. A/c was old . Cover was hanging off. Shower was small. Had a plastic mat , that was dirty. Had a hard tv with the tv. Receptionist said she was going to fix a/c & tv never did. Also asked to change room to lower floor. Her response was no, because we booked an economy room with Expedia. And we couldn’t lock door. We checked out a day earlier. 6 flights of stairs.

The room and especially the bathroom were very outdated. The TV wasn’t working. Third floor with no elevator. Breakfast starts at 8AM. I had to catch a ferry to the Aeolian islands at 7AM so I couldn’t take advantage of it the first day. Also no coffee machine or refrigerator in the room. Only one vending machine in the building with no coffee. Despite everything, the view of Stromboli from my room was priceless!

Good location. Great and helpful stuff. Clean room. Full breakfast included in the rate. Definitely recommended for a short stay.

Good things: big room, huge terrace, beautiful view, breakfast ok Not-so-good things: the borderless shower platform was higher than the bath floor and the water leaked out, the furniture did not match with the switches and lighting fixtures

the room i booked did not look anything like on the pics. i booked "double or twin room" which is more expensive than the economy double. we got economy double. the pictures need to be changed or they need to upload more pictures to be able to see the options. very disappointing. staff did not speak english at all so she did not understand when i asked her to change our room.

We booked this hotel for a really good price and it turns out to be probably the best value hotel we have ever stayed in. The hotel is easy to find, situated a few minutes walk through town (passing restaurants and shops) from Santa Domenica train station. On arrival we were immediately given a room upgrade. The room was nice, with access to a very large balcony with sea views shared with the rooms either side. Breakfasts were included and these were good, and we liked the hotel and the staff so much we ate our evening meals there three nights - delicious food and good value for money. The hotel is about a 20 minute walk from the Riaci beach (part of it down quite a steep hill) and a 30-40 minute walk to nearby Tropea, a lovely old town with its own beach. It is also worth taking the train to Ricadi and walking to Capo Vaticano and the Grotticelle beach, plus take a trip to Pizzo as that is very nice. Note that Santa Domenica station doesn't have a ticket office or machine and they charge 5 Euros extra on board - we were let off that and had to jump off the train at another station to buy tickets. After that I downloaded the Trenitalia app to buy tickets in advance. In summary, we recommend the Hotel Umberto and would like to thank the staff there for being so welcoming.

Right from the start - bad customer service. No elevator. My wife and I had to carry luggages 20 flights of stairs up. They did not offer to have anyone assist us. Suite very dated. Shower dated and very small. Could move to get to my shampoo. Dirty.

It was OK for the money, noise from highway went on all night, but had a great view

Good location. Great and helpful stuff. Clean room. Full breakfast. We paid 29 euros for night and it was great value. We arrived in the middle of night with last train in Santa Domenica. With no map we successfully found hotel, which was 10 min walking from station. We asked locals where to find it and everybody knew this place. The lady of the house greeted us with smile and let us in, it was midnight. Breakfast was really good comparing with any other Italian hotels. It is also 15 minutes walking from amassing beach in Tropei. We had truly good experience and we extended our stay.

Prix imbattable par rapport à la qualité du produit, petit-déjeuner inclus. Un conseil : éviter une soirée de séminaire, sympa mais bruyant particulièrement la nuit ( cf. Isolation phonique très deficiente inside.
