We arrived after dark via taxi and were surprised at the incredible location and architecture. This is an authentic Japanese experience— tatami floors and comfortable futon mats!! We knew we would be magically surprised in the morning and we were! It’s nestled up on the hillside with an incredible view of Mt Fuji! It was a treat to be able to privately soak before bed in an ofuro (we imagine it too has a view of Mt Fuji in the day). Sunrise view in the room of Mt Fuji was unreal! Framed in the most beautiful natural setting. The guesthouse is clean, and the hosts are very friendly and well knowledgable in the area. And fluent in English! Breakfast was delicious and so healthy! A absolute must! The owner was kind enough to drive us to our 9:30 am sake brewery tour in town. We definitely want to stay at Sakuya Guesthouse again and hopefully also climb Fuji San!

Comfortable stay in a charming and lovely guesthouse. Greeted with amazing views of Mt Fuji in the morning directly from the room. Good breakfast. Nice bathing facilities which you can book privately in the evening. Hosts were amazing and provided good recommendations for things to do throughout our stay. Walls are on the thinner side and we could sometimes hear other guests (some loud snorers in the night) but overall no problem. Would be happy to stay there again.

We needed a hotel for a two day hockey tournament in Kofu. We chose this hotel because of its location and affordability and it did not disappoint. It is located in a beautiful area and the view from our room of Mount Fuji and the fall colors was amazing! I travelled with my 12 year old and 5 year old and had a twin room. At check in the owner was very informative and told me all about what meal options they had and asked if we would be partaking. We passed because of our game schedule but the options looked good. He also gave me a nice big map of the area with things to do and allowed us to reserve a private onsen after our late night game which we loved. I especially appreciated it since I have tattoos and usually cannot use onsens. There were two robes in the room to use and towels as well. The room also has a nice deep soaking tub if onsen is not your thing. They had a nice big lounge area just past reception and I also saw an outside deck area. I’d love to come back here for a romantic get away with my my husband.

We loved Sakura. It’s a gem of a place. There’s a free private onsen, the dinners and breakfasts are affordable and delicious. My partner needed Gluten free meals and host provided wonderful meals for her at no extra cost. Every room gets a view of Mt Fuji and its peaceful and quiet tucked away with some forest on the sides with no visible neighbours. It’s about 30 years old and we really loved the vibe of the place.
