Stayed in the cabin which includes a bath and a toilet--a rarity with these onsen type lodgings. The interior was large, with a functional kitchen. Not that you will need the kitchen since the restaurant serves good food at affordable prices. The surroundings are quaint and tranquil--hotel is situated in next to a rather large park. Used the place as a base for daisetsuzan.

Surprising nice, clean and comfortable cottage for 5. The bed was a bit hard for me, but the rest of my family have no problem, just individual preference. Just 5mins walk from main building. Staff are polite and gave clear instruction on how to get to our cottage. The hot spring onsen was a plus, 3 indoor pool and 2 outdoor pool. We arrived after dinner and left before breakfast, so unable to comment on the food. I will book the cottage again if I am going to stay in Hanakagura again.

We were there less than 24 hours for a quick one night stay prior to going to the zoo. Room was clean and spacious and the food was good (ramen, udon, gyoza, ice cream, beer, etc.). My only complaint was that the food was closed too early e.g. 8:30pm. Would have been nice to have more late night options e.g. 10pm. Didn't get a chance to try to onsen.
