Nice views of the mountain but of course weather dependent. Less than 5 min walk to the beach. Onsen was awesome. I would recommend breakfast at the hotel as there are no restaurants nearby. I would plan when and where you have dinner in Kawaguchiko. The place isn’t Tokyo and stuff opens later like 9-10 am and restaurants close at 8 or so. There is one restaurant next door and that’s all for this part of the lake shore. Other hotels have restaurants but they only serve their guests.

It was nice. Really small hotel and if you want food, please pre book days before arrival. We were unable to get either when asking 3 days beforehand. The pictures of the traditional room were deceiving as it looked like a separate area for sleep…however, our door was unlocked when we returned back to the hotel after sightseeing and the bedding was set up in the same living space. We were disappointed about having our door unlocked and lack of space.

What a wonderful stay we had at Hotel Asafuji! The staff were so incredibly kind and welcoming to us. Our room had a breathtaking view of Mt Fuji and Lake Kawaguchiko, and both dinner and breakfast were excellent. We slept very well on the futons that were prepared on our tatami mats. When we left, the staff gave us several gifts to take home with us. Also, we really appreciated the shuttle to and from Kawaguchiko Station. Our only regret is that we only stayed for 1 night!

My partner and I had a wonderful two night stay at Hotel Asafuji. The hotel and dining staff were incredibly helpful and gracious, which we really appreciated as it was our first time staying at a ryokan. We especially enjoyed and recommend the dining experience, where we were able to try a wide range of local foods that were carefully and thoughtfully prepared and served. The onsen was a very nice amenity as well and had a great view of Mount Fuji. The hotel shuttle was also convenient for pick up and drop off at Kawaguchiko Station. We would certainly stay here again.
