Great place to stay. Seemed like a business hotel but extremely accommodating for families and the rooms are very large. The staff was awesome and the hotel is older but very well kept, clean, and very pretty!

Japanese breakfast was very good, good location; the regular breakfast was average. On the bad note, the check in was unpleasant, the room was musty and had a cigarette smell. It took almost an hour to get another room on a different floor. The lobby is super bright , not very inviting , it looks like a communist hotel.

This is the second time staying at the Princess Nikko within about 1 year. The Princess Nikko is both charming, traditional (provide an actual door key!), The service standard and attention to customer needs is amazing and room size is absolutely huge (the washroom was almost as big as some hotel rooms we stayed at in Tokyo). You are greeted at the door as if you are the most important person in the hotel. The breakfast is also great offering a good variety. This was the absolute highlight of our two week trip as it relates to hotel stays. The location is a reasonable walk to the main downtown area and a short walk to the subway station but also located just far enough in a quieter part of the neighbourhood. I have nothing but good things to say about this hotel, which continues to bring us back to Princess Nikko when visiting Kyoto. There is an extra subtle level of traditional Japanese hospitality offered that makes this place special. Well done!
