I am writing to express my thankfulness for the hotel staff. I accidently left my passport behind. They delivered my passport to my hotel in Matsumoto after my checkout. I got my passport back and I could continue my trip well. I must writing to thank them again and again. Also the hotel is nostalgic, caring staff, delicious food, good location close to Taisho lake and beautiful scenery. Kamikochi bus stops are right in front of the hotel. Amazing indeed.

Fantastic stay with impeccable service. Prices of food in restaurants is much more expensive but expected of hotel of this category. The clientele generally older Japanese but nonetheless we enjoyed our stay one night stay, which allowed us to enjoy Kamikochi at a more leisurely pace.

Beautiful property right along the river with incredible service. The staff are very attentive and spoke fantastic english. Very nice, spacious rooms. We got to see the fire lighting ritual and had an amazing dinner. The only downside was the price of the dinner, it is not a cheap meal so make sure to check that it fits within your budget before ordering.

Kamikochi Imperial Hotel is a wonderful place to visit. The area is absolutely beautiful, and the hotel itself has tons of old world charm and has been very well maintained in its 91 years. The only reason I don’t give it five stars is because the dining options are so very overpriced, and the quality was just okay. We made the mistake of not bringing enough cash with us to dine elsewhere, since most places in the area are cash only. There are no ATMs in Kamikochi, so next time we will be more prepared. We will visit again!

This hotel is in a beautiful unique setting! The hiking there is spectacular. However, there is one major issue - outside of the hotel, there are very few options for eating and the restaurants at the hotel will break the bank! There are three restaurant options and even the "casual" one charges $30 for spaghetti. $8 for a cup of coffee! The more expensive restaurants will cost about $200 per person for dinner. There are a few small restaurants around the bus station but they do not serve dinner and options for other meals are very limited. Guests should be warned that this is the case and bring along food!
