We stayed in the room on ground floor with a private garden. The experience was excellent with calm and natural ambience. Clean room and plentiful amenities. The Ryokan breakfast experience was outstanding, compliments to the chef and staff. The outdoor spa tub was an amazing way to relax after a day of exploring, totally worth the small charge.

Excellent place. Very traditional Japanese experience. I would suggest to the management to give some education about the Japanese breakfast and the room setting, since most of the visitors are foreigners.

An unforgettable stay in Kyoto! Every detail was carefully considered by this property and its staff/owners. High quality amenities and bedding, spacious rooms with gorgeous views. Very quiet. The food was the best we had in Japan. Both breakfast and dinner. Beautifully presented. More art than food. The staff was very helpful, kind and friendly, like a family. Thank you Ryokan Kanade and everyone who welcomed us so warmly. You were our best memory of Japan.

A beautiful traditional inn/hotel, our room looked over the garden- very serene and lovely to take an evening walk in (all lit up) and likewise a morning walk (dressed in the provided yukatas). A little further out from some of the main Kyoto tourist spots but that's fitting for the location and Kyoto is very well connected with buses and the subway. Only wish we could have stayed longer!
