CALIXTA Hotel

When we arrived, the room seemd to be nice. We left the luggage and went for a dinner. When returned to the room, the smell of dump was unbearable. We were forced to ask for another room. In the end we were transferred to another hotel. The receptionist was verry helpful and attentive.

The view from the pool was great and the breakfast was deli. It’s was convenient and quite enough to sleep at night.

Property does not have their own parking but the 24 hour parking right next to the property is accessible and an excellent price!!!!

The hotel and room were excellent for the cost. Location is awesome- shops, restaurants, beach are in walking distance. On the other hand, due to proximity to such area it gets very noisy at night. Other than that it was enjoyable stay.

Great location, comfy rooms, great view from rooftop. But that’s where it stops. The pool is super green and disgusting. It’s advertised that they only have people working the front desk from 8 to 5, but we only saw a person at the desk on the day we checked in. The entire rest of the time the front door was propped open with no one at the desk so anyone could just walk in. One of the cleaning staff checked us out the final day when we just started to leave since no one was working there all week.

Calixta is a nice boutique hotel. Quiet, great location. The room was nice. Easy check-in. It is about 15 minutes from the ADO bus station. It is 5 minutes to Quinta Avenida which is the main tourist attraction.

Great hotel.

Location is perfect! If you’re planning to spend most of the day outside the hotel, it’s a really good place for the price. Close to where you’ll take off for excursions & to 5th Ave & the beach. A few things to note - the photos were taken when the hotel was first built/renovated. The pool area doesn’t look like that at all now. We actually didn’t use the pool once in our entire stay because it was really worn down. Also the breakfast is belowwwwww par. No need to sign up for it. We skipped it twice. Basically they give you coffee & fruits. Bread and orange juice (upon request). The buffet doesn’t include anything else. We also had a really unpleasant encounter on our first day at breakfast. The guy working at the restaurant asked what room we are & said it didn’t include breakfast. We know that’s not true & the reception confirmed we had breakfast included when we checked in. He insisted he wasn’t wrong & refused to call the reception to double check. He spoke in a loud voice and super rude manner, and he asked us to go resolve this with reception ourselves & ask them to send him a message. We went downstairs & had the reception message him & then he agreed to serve us breakfast. Honestly mistakes happen, but the way he refused to even consider he might be wrong, the way he spoke condescendingly assuming we hadn’t paid, and the way he asked us to resolve the communication problem between him and reception ourselves was unacceptable.

It was a perfect location. The beds were nice the breakfast was light and good price. The pool photos look different but the pool was always empty so it was a nice place to relax.

The staff at this property was exceptional and made us feel very welcome. The pool area was small and a bit run down, but comfortable loungers, and the pool was a good temperature. The breakfast was basic (coffee, toast, fruit, yogurt); however, you could order additional items for a charge. The huevos rancheros we orddered were very good. The location of the property one block from 5th Avenue is excellent. I think the hotel is a good value for the price.

One of the nicest rooms I have stayed in. Peaceful, spacious, loads of storage, great shower and sink facilities, huge bed and lovely lighting. You have to ask to have your room cleaned otherwise you won’t get new towels etc… The rooftop pool is a gem, love the decor and relaxing music. The staff were amazingly helpful. A couple of times the link to the door opening app didn’t work but that was fixed in minutes each time. The continental breakfast is pretty basic but again, staff are great. The WiFi was reliable and fast enough. And finally, the location is perfect. Just away from fifth Avenue, near the ADO station and very close to everything you need in Playa. Thank you Calixta!

We didnt like the self check-in after 5 pm.

La localisation est parfaite, à 2 pas de la 5e avenue, 3min de marche pour ADO l'endroit et la chambre très propre. Un peu bruyant mais overall c'est très bien! Pour un court séjour c'est parfait.

There is no staff after 5pm, so the lobby is empty and no real security. Anyone could walk into the hotel and no filter to stop non guests. It was ok for a couple of nights.

We had a great stay at Calixta! As others have mentioned, the included breakfast is pretty lacklustre but the fruit was fresh and delicious and the staff were lovely. The additional charge breakfast was great and is pretty affordable. My partner and I shared an order whenever we opted to buy breakfast as the portions are very fair. Check in was easy despite us arriving during an unstaffed hour. desk staff were lovely. Room was clean, air conditioning was great. Shower leaked and the water pressure was lacking but the water got nice and hot. Our balcony was very private! Pool was great and cleaned daily, however as others have mentioned, the pool AREA is not great. Ignore the photos with the chairs, it's just cushions on the ground that are in semi rough shape. Pool towels were usually available in the breakfast room. Area was super walkable. Construction happening on buildings next door but wasn't an issue at night. Street noise was pretty loud on some nights, not ideal for light sleepers. Noise machine was provided in the room. Overall, we thought this place was pretty solid!

First of all ... got to hotel and i was hot humid and extremely tired sent to the wrong room guest were already staying . Then tne key entry dodnt work so i was moved to another room after repeatly going back to front desk for new entry and frint desk assistance . I was so tired & when i was finally settled into my new room i had no key pass so i was stuck in hotel room all night no food and no way to leave my hotel or door be left open . And i was new to area in mexico and was very anxious to leave my luggage left una tennded so i went to bed hungry . By 3 am i snuck down to front desk and told night manager he yelked at me rold me to go back to my room . @ this point i was upset and hungry . By morning front desk was able to give me an actual key card so i was able to go get breakfast and secure my hotel room When i went for breakfast the initialy said it was free and it wasnt they wanted more money for the eggs for breakfast . 65 more pecos . Tou only get fruit and toast . For free All ways to upsale at this hotel . And when u complain they yell at you to stip talking about it and to move away from the breakfast bar and sit down . Horrible experience . Thete was also no hot water in hotel room just that cool cold water . But its a rain shower . Walls are gross in hotel room and trash left for day around rooftop pool . I had to use my own hand wipes to clean surfaces. It felt like a hostal hotel at this location . Lots of police at night and loud speakers and traffic .

Lovely comfortable hotel well positioned in the centre of Play Del Carmen. Staff were really friendly and ever so helpful. They really went the extra mile to help my brother when his wheelchair broke. Nice breakfast and kids loved the pool.
