liked the food. could have been closer to the beach

Not the fault of the resort but the Sorgassum was horrible and the smell was horrible

The overall experience of the resort was great. Pool beaches and performances were all spectacular. The only bad thing we all said was the booking of the restaurants. We tried to book restaurants on the app and in person and it wasn't working and no one told us that we should do it right away when we get to the resort.

This was our 3rd trip to Maya Suites. We absolutely love everything about this resort! The staff amazing. There is always something new to discover on the resort.

Property is just older

Nuestro cuarto estaba sucio los espejos no los limpiaban por más de un mes podías ver la tierra en los vidrios,todos los pasillos de las habitaciones llenos de platos sucios vasos por días nadie los recogía y los pasillos en toda la semana nunca se barrieron ni trapearon y se veían negros de mugre y muy sucios solo el lobby estaba limpio cada vez hay menos limpieza en estos hoteles y eso es lo que enferma a las personas por eso hay tanta bacteria

Very average resort. I wish there were food options closer to the pools instead of taco stands. The property is kind of confusing .

Beautifully properly. Food was pretty good. Excellent service. Lots of activities for kids. Highly recommend it.

Installations , amenities , all personal working there , so kind and helpful , activities , all was great.

Hotel staff do try to make your stay as easy as possible.

Large centipedes in the room(we understand it’s an island environment) they wouldn’t or couldn’t move us, but fumigated our room while we were there. No VIP Expedia recognition. Had to pay out of pocket almost $400USD from the jewelry store on property as they wouldn’t let us use the entire credit there after being told by the concierge at 62/63 and jewelry shop attendant. We’ve stayed many times at Iberostar, first and last time at Maya!

I read a lot of reviews before booking so to set the record straight: this hotel is massive and excellent for families; the app does work great; the food is outstanding; the push for timeshare is real but I said no politely once and they left me alone; there is a map of the property in the app and you need it; there are so many restaurants and the buffet options are so outstanding and varied than not being able to make reservations for a family of 4 was a non-issue. Size aside, this hotel is truly a gem: the pools, the water park, the activities, the food, the service, the attention to details, the cleanliness and the consistent friendliness of the employees made for a very special trip. The down sides were only the choppy ocean and seaweeds when we were there (can’t control that and the hotel removes seaweeds every morning) and the $45 sunscreen (just pack your own). The night entertainment was okay but the fire shows truly stood out. Other than that, huge kudos for running such a large place with taste and care - and again, for the food alone, this stay was amazing. Will gladly return!

The reason for my 3 star review is due to the false marketing--it's 4.5 star rating that it promotes must be self appointed as anyone who has stayed at 5 star can see that this is no higher than a 4. To use the word luxury only applies to a few select spaces around the resort, so it is misleading to use that term to the resort as a whole. The resort is clean, a good beach, and a lot to do, so if that is your goal this is perfect. Food was mediocre, and getting reservations is a joke if you want an actual regular meal time (not at 5 or 9) Regular meal times are mainly reserved for their premium upcharge and people who agree to their timeshare pitch. It touts a lot of restaurants, but near the pool the breakfast closes early (10), and lunch doesn't open until 1. The timeshare pitch is really too much. The concierge really pressured us to do it, we kept saying no, she said she'd pencil us in and we could play it by ear. When we didn't show, she called, came to our room, and even said that her job performance depended on us attending. We felt badly for her, and don't feel it's fair to either the hardworking employees or the paying guests to put that type of pressure on the pitch. The fight for pool chairs was silly, the beach was not an issue as it was red flag windy our entire stay so the majority of the guests were not on it for long. We had the power and ac go out in our room multiple times, although they were quick to come and fix.

Absolutely lovely vacation.

This property has a lot to offer with food activities pools and beach. The people are very helpful. The beach is very nice with not much sargassum when i was there. If you want lounge chairs by the pool and beach you have to get up very early to save a seat.

I have stayed at the Iberostar Maya suites many times. This was my sixth time so obviously I continue to come back. The resort is beautiful and always clean. Most staff was amazing. We had a couple issues with the girls at the Star coffee shop both at the Lindo resort and at the Maya resort, young girls that were just a bit rude. The staff at the Maya lobby, including Raul and Kevin were awesome! For the most part, the food was good. The buffet at the Maya, (which is new) the seafood was incredible. Lots of lobster! The chef there was very nice. He came out and spoke to us. I believe his name was Oscar. The Mexican Restaurant that we were waiting to be seated at as we looked over the menu, It was definitely not an impressive menu. I’m very glad we did not stay because we talked to people later that evening who said they waited to be seated for over an hour and then waited for their food for over an hour and that it was pretty bad. So I’m glad we never ate there. The breakfast buffets are always incredible so much food to choose from and always good. So I highly recommend this resort!
