Had a pleasant stay at My Bagan Amata. Checked the menu of the hotel's restaurant and tried to find Mohinga (traditional Burmese fish noodle soup) but turns out they don't have it. However, the staff checked with the kitchen and offered to make one portion for me at breakfast time next day before I leave. Old Bagan is easily accessible with an e-bike, and the hotel also offers rental services, but I rented it at a shop just outside the hotel.

The stay was not fantastic but just okay. The room lightings are dim and there were mosquitoes. The corridor is also not bright enough. However, when we asked for mosquito spray, they were quick to supply. They have a small swimming pool and a restaurant. When my husband asked for Mohinga on the first day, he said he will get it for him for the 2nd day breakfast. Later we learnt that he went to purchase it for my husband because it was not in their menu for that day. I was impressed with him. The hotel is located near to the places of interest. A short drive away, you can find many restaurants and a supermarket.

Really nice hotel and good value for what you get, especially when compared to cost of other hotels in the area. Staff were really friendly and helpful. You are not a customer of the hotel the moment you checked out. We requested for water at the receptionist and were directed to the restaurant at the convenience of the receptionist. From our past experiences, the receptionist will usually call the housekeeping to provide customer complimentary water even after we checked out. In this case, we were directed to the restaurant and was charged for a bottle of the hotel's mineral water (the complimentary ones given in the rooms). The lady restaurant manager and the receptionist tried to clarify by saying that it is the hotel's policy to provide only 2 bottles of complimentary water a day. Anything beyond will be chargeable. This is our first encounter of such incidence and we were appalled. This moment the hotel mgr stepped in. Before we could speak, the restaurant mgr and the receptionist explained the situation to him in Burmese, only to find out that the facts were not fully delivered to him. We explained to him again, he understood and was apologetic for what happened. He even offered to make a refund which we rejected. It's not about the money as it is only a small sum, it's the service that we received from the front line. Bagan and its people are so beautiful, we were sad to leave the place with such disappointing experience. PS: Please ignore the pictures attached. There is no option to remove wrongly attached photos.

Great hotel with friendly service. Were thoughtful and helpful on the day we were suffering from "Burma belly". Cultural show on the lawns every evening draws a big tour bus crowd.
