The hotel location is very good. Service is generally acceptable but this stay had one unpleasant experience during breakfast. This was my 3rd stay. During breakfast, I was toasting bread when the staff asked me to take a seat and they will serve me. When it was ready, they serve to another guest!!! That guest just took it without question. When I told that guest that was my toast he got defensive and spoilt my morning. If the staff had been paying attention and serious about their service, this would not have happened.

The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable with good pillows, and the internet worked well (around 14mbps). The breakfast was good, a decent selection of food, some western but mainly Asian. There's a nice rooftop terrace to dine in, but the menu doesn't have much Myanmar cuisine which was disappointing, especially as there aren't many restaurants or shops near the hotel. But other than the location, it was a comfortable stay and the staff were friendly.

Even the staff are very friendly, and you can exchange money in the back (the rate is poor compared to the airport and the bank), the location is acceptable, the noises are bad starting at 5am from the streets (dogs often fight in the neighbourhood, chanting is less harmful but can be annoying if you are not into the rythme). Worst case, the windows can't be opened, blacked out with drapes, no natural lighting. Even that, the cooking smell would leak through. The shower has a plastic curtain forming a half circle. Breakfast is disgusting, not fresh, little selection. I suspect they use overnight leftovers. Maybe because it is run by Burmese Chinese? A1 hotel close to here doesn't have this reputation. I didn't bother to move around because I only stayed for two nights. And I used it only for sleeping. The day I'm out. The hotel is close to a popular local restaurant which I call it food stand. Don't order the three choices there (cold and disgusting), ask freshly cooked food, which is much much much better.

My husband and I were there for 2 nights to visit Mandalay. We knew we were going to be out most of the time so didn't want to pay for a high end hotel just to sleep at night, hence booked this hotel after seeing all the good reviews. The location is just in the middle of the city, very close to the Mandalay palace and the night market. The room was clean and the bathroom was almost brand new. The staff was excellent - attentive and very helpful and tried their best to accomodate our needs. The mattress was albeit quite firm but was not much of a big problem after we asked for extra pillows. Overall, this is the perfect place if you are looking for a 3 star experience of a reasonable price.

When I arrived it was around mid-day so the complimentary water was quite warm. I decided to put it in the fridge, but that was also warm! It took until the next morning for anything in the fridge to be cold. The air con also took quite a while to cool down. When I went to leave the next day, I was informed it would be at least a 30 minute wait to get a taxi. Though they had asked how I had arrived (via plane) and when I was leaving ("tomorrow" I told them when I arrived), they never told me I had to request a taxi in advance until it was too late. Mandalay was my 3rd city in Myanmar and both of the previous were able to get me a taxi within minutes, with no advanced warning, so I did not expect this. I got to the airport in time, and since my flight was delayed I had plenty of time. But considering 2 of my 4 domestic flights left early (as in 20-30 minutes early), I really think they need to inform their guests of this taxi policy - especially as the airport is a good 50-55 minutes away.
