Easy check in for me, other guests who arrived later in the evening had trouble finding it: signage is confusing. The room is sufficient, well located, and clean. The bed is a little small and old box-spring mattress not the most comfortable. The balcony is a really nice feature, with a small table for two that's perfect for enjoying a drink in the late afternoon or evening. Service was very friendly and checking in was fast and easy.

The place is close to the metro that goes everywhere in the city. There is a supermarket nearby, cafes and everything a tourist needs. The staff members are very nice. The room is in good condition. The balcony is very important for those who smoke.

A couple of time I spoke with the reception and they keep of spaeking to me in Portuguese and I don't know how to speak nor understand Portuguese. On our last day the lady at the reception is from Nepal and she speaks good English

Although the rooms were clean and adequate, I have 3 concerns, all of which makes this place unacceptable for seniors. First, this is not a regular hotel but a bunch of rooms spread out on several floors in what looks like an office building. The front entrance is locked, so after awhile of panic I found a tiny sign for the place off to the side and a button, which I pushed for access. There were no instuctions in listing about how to register once you get inside and no sign of an office. My cab driver looked at my hotel printout and told me to go to fourth floor. It was a number of steps without a handrail to elevator which was not working so I walked up the 4 flights of stairs. I saw another sign on a door and found someone to register me. I had to go back down to 1st floor to get to my room. Steps can be a real hazard for seniors. Second, the floor in the bathroom was very slippery after shower. So was inside of shower but I could not find a bath or shower mat. I had to use towels. Also a hazard for seniors. Third, the rooms were down several narrow and winding hallways and there were not any alternate escape routes. Also no fire alarms. I felt very uneasy, unsafe , and vulnerable the whole time I was there.

I would only recommend this property as a last resort. I regret not spending a bit more for a better place. The hallway area had a strong smell of cigarettes and alcohol, and the room was not in the same condition as the photos—it definitely needed some upkeep. The plumbing was noisy; flushing the toilet or using the shower caused a loud sound that could easily disturb anyone else in the room. The bathroom door wasn’t fully completed, allowing both light and sound to pass through. Additionally, the room had poor soundproofing, so I was frequently woken up by noise from the hallway and the street. To make matters worse, my mother-in-law found a bug in her bed. On the positive side, the staff was friendly during check-in, and the location was convenient. However, given the overall experience, I would have preferred staying in a hostel with shared accommodations.

The room smells and blankets were dusty, there are flies in the room. The shower doors are very loose and very difficult to operated. We couldn’t get a shower because the Hot water couldn’t come out, reported to the receptionist and he said would come to the room to check it out, but we waited entire evening and he never did!! Also the parking information the hotel provided is totally wrong, took us hours to find a parking space and paid very expensive parking fees. They should be honest about the situation. Don’t waste your money and time for this terrible hotel!!!

Price ratio is bad, when arriving there was nothing to guide you to the reception, then when we found it we had to wait more than 10 minutes for a lady to appear who did not know if the room had air conditioning, she opened the room for us and when we asked her if it worked she did not even know then the cleaning was good, the bathroom was very narrow if I sat on the toilet I could wash my face at the same time the towels and bed linen were live chlorine while being there another lady arrived and the same story was repeated to her as to me, it is good that it has a cheap price but it is still very expensive for what it is price ratio there is a lot to improve

Amazing location, friendly stuff (Thanks Pedro). But the room is very poor. Leaking sink, that was never fixed till we left (5 nights) even though we informed them 10 min after we arrived. And the room cleaning was not at all good, sometimes they don’t even change the towels. If you are looking for a low cost option in a nice area, it works. But i know i am not going back.

I was unhappy at check in when they tried to charge extra because I had a friend with me that might have stayed one of the 2 nights I was booked. The room was booked and payed for by me if I chose to share the bed with my friend for one night I don't think that should cost more. Especially when I pulled up a new booking on my phone and there was no price difference in booking for one or two persons.

Unfortunately Residencial Duque de Saldanha wasn't what I expected. It was my first time in Lisbon and I should have booked a proper hotel. This is a place to lay your head at night and nothing else. The shower was nice but the bed was uncomfortable. My room was next to the laundry room, so I had a noisy stay. I won't stay there in future and I won't recommend it either. However, Lisbon was great!
