Visited Edinburgh with my daughter for an open day at the University. Location was ideal between the two campuses as well as close by to Arthur’s Seat, old town etc.

A lovely old building in a quiet neighborhood. The Edinburgh Marathon was the same weekend we were trying to get accommodations and the only room in this affordable lodging that was available was one with shared toilet and shower. We had a sink in our room though so that was great! The host was on site and actually insisted on carrying one of our bags up and down the two flights of stairs. The bananas and oranges at the front desk were very welcome! We expected to shared the toilet and shower but we had them to ourselves as it turned out.

The private parking was a bonus - Andy and Kim were excellent at keeping in touch before we arrived so our check in was great. Lovekly place - obviousky were cared and loved by the hosts. Great location, lots of lovely places to eat - we dined at The Apiary and The Old Bell - both were great - the Apiary was nice dining with a great vegetarian selection, the Old Bell is a great pub with excellent pub food.

Stayed here at the beginning and at the end of our trip. The place was okay but outdated. Also the building affected my partner's sinuses. Not sure why, his health usually is not sensitive like that. We didn't realize this until we stayed there a second time. The bathrooms attached to the rooms are useable but the shower and sink are very small. Also if someone flushes the toliet while another person showers, the water will run cold for a bit. We had stayed in two different rooms and had hot water issues with two separate bathrooms. The second/last time the water would go from boiling hot to ice cold continuously. No one was using the other bathroom at the time so must be something wrong with the shower itself. They do provide coffee and oatmeal in the room which was nice. There is also free parking in the back in case you have a car.

Our hostess Kim did a very good orientation to navigating and enjoying Edinburgh. This is a lovely old home that has been well kept up. We were surprised by the daily room clean service. We did not stay in an en suite room but rather share the bathroom with other guests. This was not a problem at all and indeed during our stay in the guest house was quiet. The location is not in the bustle of the main drag and we liked that, But if you want to be in the more keyed up area with night life around you, you might want to be closer to the center..As middle-aged healthy types we walked to the Royal Mile and attractions and made our pedometers very happy. There is plenty of good public transportation at hand, however. There are a surprising number of good restaurants a few blocks away. We enjoyed the Abbey, the Southpour, and my favorite was the Apiary. They were Indian, Moroccan, and Italian restaurants that look pretty good as well but we just didn’t get there. Enjoy!

The owner is very kind and helpful. The home is lovely with great furniture. Our room was beautiful and comfy. However the WiFi is horrible and the shower gives you hot water or pressure. Not both. Would stay here again. Hopefully not on the third floor next time. The staircase is narrow and curved and I have mobility issues. My sister was totally fine with the stairs though if you don’t have problems with stairs

Very convenient location and perfectly adequate room to stay when in Edinburgh. Very pleasant and helpful owners and enjoyed our stay immensely. No elevator but Andy offered assistance to carry luggage upstairs. Would prefer an ensuite but shared bathroom did not pose any problem.

Andy was very helpful with suggestions about what to do and see as well as a great knowledge of the bus system. We needed to add another night to our stay and it was no problem at all.

The hosts were very helpful regarding helping us plan our stay there, suggesting activities, bus routes, and nearby restaurants. We did not have an ensuite, but there was never a wait for the w/c, and we were very comfortable. It was a lovely, convenient place to stay. We appreciated having the car parking in the back. Thanks again for a great stay!

The house is a lovely Victorian House that has been renovated. It is a little over a mile from the heart of Edinburgh (Princess St., etc.) About 100 yards from the hotel is a bus stop that easily connects you with most of the city (the Lothian Bus system is excellent). The room was clean and comfortable. It was a little small, as was the attached bathroom, but that is okay because I spent most of my days out in the city, the zoo, etc.

Located in the inner suburbs of the city, Clarin House offers a smart, comfortable and pleasantly surprising place to rest during our stay in Scotland's capital. Situated on a quiet, residential street, the guesthouse is either a 25-minute walk to the city centre or a 10 min taxi, depending on traffic. The guesthouse owners were lovely and welcoming and provided ironing facilities on request and the room was cleaned to a high standard on a daily basis. The room itself was very pleasant in that the bed was large and comfortable and the room itself was spacious and offered tea, coffee and biscuits. Negatives about Clarin House is that the shower in our room was weak and not particularly hot. Also, breakfast is no longer offered, although you should know that when you book. The car parking facilities could also be made more clear on the website. I would definitely return to Clarin House, especially if they decided to return to providing a hot cooked breakfast. Worth a stay.

The Clarin Guest House was SUCH a warm, inviting, wonderful place to stay where the owners and staff treated you like family! They genuinely cared for you comfort and well being! The breakfasts were delicious and VERY filling and satisfying and they catered to your every need. The building is beautiful inside AND out and is situated just outside the heart of Edinburgh which made for an easy bus or cab ride to all the main attractions of this beautiful city. Our room was clean and had plenty of room for the 4 of us. You can BET that if we are ever blessed to be in Edinburgh again, we will definitely stay at the Clarin Guest House again!
