We arrived on the train so it was lovely that the hotel was only 5 minutes away from the station. The staff on reception were very welcoming and knowledgeable. Our room was beautifully furnished with the added bonus of the complimentary contents of the mini fridge being topped up every day. The breakfast menu was great and the food delicious (the only slight quibble here was the speed of service once it had been ordered). Finally, the hotel is in a great location: we could walk to everywhere we wanted to go.

Room 211 was an excellent room. Felt cold but wasn’t sure how to work the air con.we put it up to 21.5 but still felt cold.A hot air fan was found in the wardrobe and helped. High ceilings a big high windows . Probably would have been ok normally but cold outside 9deg c. Service was excellent and the hotel staff were very helpful specially when my wife couldn’t find the iron that was hiding behind a shirt in the wardrobe. A replacement iron was used.Breakfast was top class and the breakfast room was lovely and warm and comfortable .The waiting staff were excellent and friendly.

Really liked the hotel itself. Nicely decorated and well kept. Breakfast was very good and very civilised unlike the scramble in other hotels. The staff were lovely with a special mention to housekeeping. Big disappointment was when we entered our room. It turned out to be an accessible room. That was OK but the large windows were half covered in frosted glass which meant we had no outlook. I returned to reception who then offered me a suite at another £50 per night. Went back to the room and reception arrived at the door and offered a room at the front of the hotel with a view. It was Tiny and not acceptable. My partner even stubbed her toe trying to negotiate round the bed. In the accessible room the TV was not reacting properly to the remote with everything on a 10 second delay. Very annoying. The hotel fixed it next day but the problem returned. There is a small bar in the hotel but no draft beer of any sort. Didn't matter much as there are bars all over Edinburgh. I would stay in this hotel again but would not have booked it had I known the room had frosted glass. I think this is something Expedia should highlight for their customers.

Nice hotel in great location. Lovely room facing the road so do expect some noise from the trams and cars but didn’t bother us and earplugs are provided complimentary. We had issue with our tv but thus was promptly rectified. Staff were all lovely and friendly and breakfast was very good. Would definitely return to this hotel.

Nice hotel, pretty much get what you pay for and that’s what i expected, nothing too fancy but ticks all the right boxes, good location to the city centre and some good food places surrounding.

Staff on reception and waiting on were great, very friendly and welcoming. The food served at breakfast was out of this world. So delicious!! The location is absolutely perfect and we used the tram service daily. The stop was one minute away. The room itself was disappointing and I was shocked to see the ceiling all cracked and brown stained, it made me feel anxious like it was ready to drop down. My husband didn’t want me to mention it but I think it should be repaired so other guests don’t feel like I did. My husband and I struggled sleeping every night because the bed was so uncomfortable. The heating system blew out cold air in the night which we couldn’t work out why as the temp was 24! I wasn’t a fan of the wooden floor either, it wasn’t particularly attractive/ welcoming. I was very happy to have received a free pair of slippers which I used all the time. We also both used the robes provided. We used the free tea making facilities and enjoyed the water and wafers! The tv turned itself on at least once a day at various times including in the middle of the night which was very creepy! 👻

Room was big loads of space however my double bed was two beds pushed together which is never a great sleeping experience. Bar service is very slow as it's not always manned.
