Stravithie Castle

What a delightful place! The house and grounds are beautiful, our room was very spacious and comfortable. It’s about a 10 minute drive to St Andrews.

Stravithie Castle is like a wonderful step-back in time. The grounds are beautiful and it's a very peaceful, quiet place to stay. The proprietor, David, was very attentive and helpful and made us feel welcome. I would absolutely visit again if I return to Scotland and I would highly recommend a stay here to anyone!

To actually stay in a Castle- not in the grounds, amazing!

We liked everything

A thoroughly enjoyable experience in every respect. Spotlessly clean with great attention to detail. It had that personal touch which is lacking in many establishments. The property was easy to locate due to the excellent communication from the owner. On arrival we were warmly greeted and given a short history of the property together with some very helpful housekeeping information. The accommodation was very spacious, comfortable and more than met our expectations. We will have no hesitation in returning should we be in the area at some future date. A most enjoyable and memorable experience.

Wonderful stay in this charming, quiet, self contained room. Good wi-fi, nice kitchen and good, modern bathroom. My only wish is that the room would have had a bath but I knew it didn’t at the time of booking, so no complaints. Hosts were excellent, very friendly and were very respectful of privacy.

This is a gorgeous castle. Our accommodations were perfect and much more than we expected. We will definitely be back.

Loved staying at Renatta and David’s castle. Close to town yet remote and absolutely beautiful!

Loved staying at this private castle, even if it was the original maids quarters! Spacious room with french doors opening onto the lawn garden and creek below. Bathroom was fine and water on a timer but always hot. It is outside of St Andrews but worth it for the experience and peaceful ambience. Continental breakfast was in our mini fridge and replenished daily so we could eat at our leisure. No microwave which would have been an advantage for quick evening meals. Bed mattress is old and needs replacing but these are only the 2 things I was disappointed in. David the owner/host greeted us on arrival and was so welcoming and knowledgeable about his homes history that it was a privilege to be there. If you walk down the amazing treelined driveway and cross the road there is a winding, walkable path that that takes you to a Church and a cemetery that is worth reading for its history. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend.

A good b&b venue with a charming, enthusiastic owner. Very spacious room. Good quality and plentiful continental breakfast.

The room and the grounds were stunning. The hosts went above and beyond to make our stay outstanding.

We enjoyed our stay at the castle. David was very welcoming. The room was really a large suite with separate living room and kitchen. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom as small but adequate. Our only concern is the room smelled quite musty when we very arrived. It was better over time. The Old Course is no more than 10 minutes away. The castle was easy to find by following GPS. I would not recommend staying here without a car. Overall a nice experience in a castle. Felt like Scotland.

Beautiful castle in a quiet neighborhood! The radiator worked great and so did the renovated bathroom/shower. The owner David is super friendly and a joy to chat with. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
