Holiday Inn Resort ALPENSIA PYEONGCHANG, an IHG Hotel

* location * to get to the location of the hotel there are several transportation options, namely using a train, bus or private car. We chose to use the train (ktx) with consideration of a faster travel time. From Seoul Station, we took the KTX to Jinbu Station and took about 1 hour 45 minutes. Initially we planned to continue the journey to the hotel using a taxi, it turns out that there is a free shuttle bus (28 December 2019-2 February 2020) to alpensia. Luckily, the free shuttle arrived not long after we arrived at Jinbu Station. The red shuttle bus is standby in front of the station on schedule. Travel to alpensia takes about 15-20 minutes from Jinbu Station. We were dropped at the welcome center in alpensia, from here we need to walk about 5-10 minutes to the holiday inn resort. If you visit in the winter or rainy season, we recommend bringing an umbrella so it doesn't get rained on. * lobby area * hotel lobby is spacious and comfortable, divided into two areas, one is in front of the front office (check-in desk) and one is next to the front office (check-in desk) and there are many comfortable sofas available as places to waiting. In the lobby area there is also a concierge desk that will help us provide information regarding hotels, facilities and other things that we want to know about. * staff & services * hotel staff are very friendly and workmanlike. The hotel clerk will immediately greet and help us when we enter the hotel lobby, at that time we are assisted to carry luggage and go to the hotel room. The officers were quite numerous, skillful and could speak English well, so there was no need to worry and doubt if you wanted to ask questions. The check-in process proceeded quickly, as usual we handed over all our passports and filled out the check-in form provided by the front desk clerk. It didn't take long, around 10-15 minutes the check-in process was finished. Likewise during the check-out process, it only takes 5-10 minutes. * room * We booked a superior, non-smoking room and asked for a room with a large size / king size bed. Fortunately, we were given a room with large windows that directly face the ski slope, ski lift and snow sledding, yeayyy! We’re so happy! 😊 The room is large, comfortable and clean. The bathroom with a large bathtub is on the right after the entrance, and there is a coat / jacket / coat hanger on the left after the room entrance. Oh yeah, one of the things we like too is there are lots of cabinets and hangers available. Iron and table are also available, this is a plus point too, especially for those who want to iron a shirt / jacket that is rather wet. In addition to heating, the hotel room floor is also covered with carpet, making activities in the room very comfortable and there is no need to worry about our feet getting cold. In the room also available 2 chairs / sofa and 1 table to relax drinking tea or coffee while looking at the views of the snow slope or when it snows. During our stay here, we like to talk casually, snacking and drinking tea, we really enjoy this spot. The balcony area is the best part of this room. From the balcony area, we can see extraordinary views, calm atmosphere and very cold air. There are also two chairs and a table to relax in the balcony area, but get ready to wear a thick jacket / coat and socks because the air is really cold during winter. The scenery is really beautiful, on the left is clearly visible snow slop with various categories, from the usual (for beginners) to the steep (for experts). On the right, you can see the snow sledding area, a favorite area for families with children. * Activities * Lots of activities that you can do here, from playing with snow, making snowman dolls, following skiing, snowboarding or snow sledding. There is a special discount for staying at the holiday inn, by 30% for skiing / snowboarding and 20% for snow sledding. We ask the concierge desk for a price list and ask about ticketing locations. For those who just play snow, you can walk to the front area of the resort, there are games areas for children like a slide. But because it was winter yesterday, this area was covered in snow, so we just took a walk in the area and played snow. For those of you who want to try skiing / boarding, you can walk to the ski house and buy tickets or look for equipment or clothes there. For the snow sledding area is in a different building from the ski house, the snow sledding is near the building 202. There are lines like shophouses in front of the snow sledding area, just show the hotel key card to get a 20% discount here. Tips for snow sledding, there is a pass for two people, meaning that if you buy this pass, it is valid for 1 adult and 1 child. We chose to play in snow sledding, and because there were three of us (2 adults and 1 child), we bought 1 package pass for two people and 1 pass for adults, so it's more efficient right, hehehe. Snow sledding is very fun and addictive, we play in this area twice, during the day and night we buy another pass, hehehe. It is highly recommended to try this game. * breakfast, lunch & dinner * if you order a room that does not include breakfast as we ordered, don't worry, there are many restaurants / cafes available in this alpensia area, from coffee shops, restaurants (pizza / burgers / chicken) to convenient store. Some things to note are the opening and closing hours, on average it opens at 10-11am and closes at 6pm or there are even more nights. We had breakfast and lunch at Lotteria and had dinner at Nice to Cu. Next want to try the other restaurant too. For those looking for Asian or Indonesian food tastes, can be found in convenient stores such as rendang meat, the label is Indian food, still needs to be heated in the microwave. * conclusion * for 3 days 2 nights we stayed at alpensia alpensia holiday inn resort, we felt very comfortable and pleasant, from the hotel room, the view is amazingly beautiful, the service of friendly and good staff to the facilities available and interesting activities that can done at this resort. We plan to come back again another time to vacation here and spend even more time here and will definitely recommend this hotel to our friends.
