Maxtyle Guesthouse Dongdaemun

The service was great! We could leave our luggages until 4pm after checking out. However, it would be great if the breakfast could be improved by including more food items.

The Maxtyle Dongdaemun Guesthouse is a new establishment, which appears to have turned studio apartments into nightly rooms for rent. As the name implies, it is a guesthouse rather than a hotel, which comes with a few distinctions, but overall we had an excellent experience there. Our room (1810) was modern, clean and new, and had three beds (one double and two singles). It had an incredible view overlooking the amazing Dongdaemun Design Plaza, world-class architecture by Zaha Hadid, and hi-rise fashion malls. From the three windows in the corner room we could see all over Seoul. The view was equally interesting at night, when the buildings turn into video screens and neon lights light up the area. We met two of the staff-members, an older gentleman in the daytime and a younger one in the evening, who were both very kind and responsive to our needs, and spoke enough English to communicate. The most negative part of the experience was trying to find the guesthouse when we first arrived even though we knew the building. The place is so new that people in the same building don't know that it exists. We knew the building from the photos online, but it took some wandering around a shopping center there with our bags before we finally got a tip to try the elevator at the north end of the building (closest to Dongdaemun Gate/Station). There were no signs for the guesthouse anywhere, but we somehow found it on the 18th floor.

It is a wonderful location for late night shopping in the Dongdaemun area. The view from the hotel is great, it is clean and a wonderful place to stay.東大門周辺で深夜まで買い物を楽しむには大変すばらしいロケーションです。ホテルからの眺めも良く、清潔で素晴らしい滞在でした。
