Changed my sheets and towels every day first experience in a hostel room was satisfactory although I could’ve used a small refrigerator really the only problem was that my room was above a bar and it was noisy until about 3 o’clock in the morning

I enjoyed a lovely private room in this hostel with a floor to ceiling window / small balcony overlooking the street and stylish decor. The shower was also nice and the bed was very comfortable. The front desk staff weren't the friendliest but were helpful when I needed to put food in the fridge, microwave something or store my suitcase, and one of them found me an adapter for my phone charger as well. The location is excellent, just one block from Sol and the Metro station there and walkable to some of the landmarks in Madrid. I definitely recommend this hostel as a reasonably priced place to stay in the center of it all!

The hotel has an excellent location, as you can walk to all the main points of interest in central Madrid. The rooms are very clean and the beds are very comfortable.

Positive: - great location - helpful staff - room cleaned every day Negative: - small room (even for one person) - very basic bathroom - the place is a bit dated - no guest policy (it's in the small print of the booking) Verdict: The hotel staff is polite and helpful, but all-in-all, this place is not good value for money IMO. I paid over £700 for 6 nights and it's a very basic hostel. The lack of amenities and the no guest policy is annoying and just makes the whole experience overpriced. Would not stay here again.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and overall great. However, please beware that there is a bar close by and the windows are VERY thin. You can literally hear everything. People were out drunk and partying until 6am. No one in my family could sleep through it. Such a bad experience but not the hotels fault

The only thing this place has going for it is the location. For what I paid, I would’ve been much better off literally anywhere else. We thought we were booking a hotel, but clearly that was a huge mistake this place is a complete dump. From the start, there’s zero communication no clear instructions, not even something as basic as telling you what floor you’re on. It’s disorganized and frustrating. And the noise? Unreal. The street noise is nonstop, making it almost impossible to get any sleep. If you’re expecting rest or comfort, forget it. This place is a mess from beginning to end.

Amazing location, right next to Sol metro station/Plaza del Sol. Can be noisy in the morning (shops opening/setting up) and at night (hum from hundreds of conversations and sometimes loud drunks passing through) but that's the trade off of staying in an area like that and I still slept well. The room was cute, clean, and the whole hostal appeared to have been recently redone in the last few years, albeit on a budget. I stayed 4 nights in a double room with 1 bed by myself and it was perfect. Would be cramped for 2 people I think, there isn't much floor space. Building was secure and there was almost always someone at the front desk. I needed random things like a cork screw and scissors, both of which they had which was practical. I'd recommend it for a shorter trip where you don't want to waste time getting to places and don't need a lot of space. I took a bus from the airport to Cibeles then the metro to Sol and it was very easy to navigate and find. I stayed in March and it wasn't cold in the room and the heater did kick on at night. There was an air conditioner for those staying in the summer. There is scaffolding all around the building so I wasn't really able to use the balcony but again since it was March I had the doors closed anyway.

Hostal Veracruz is clean and safe. Single rooms are small, cozy and functional, with private bathrooms and air conditioner. The rooms combine modern furnishings and fixtures with the traditional architecture of the building. The hostal is centrally located in the Puerta del Sol area; a great location, especially for solo travelers, with countless restaurants, bars and cafes and shops nearby, and within walking distance from major attractions such as the Prado Museum, El Retiro park, and the Royal Palace.

Excellent location, friendly check-in, clean room, no issues or concerns, lots of restaurants nearby, right in the centre of Madrid walkable to the palace.
