What Guests Say About Their Stay

Lovely family run hotel, sensitively restored to a high standard in a small residential area just outside Muskiz. Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are beautifully furnished. Although it is advertised as having a restaurant, it does not serve evening meals and we were directed to the local town which was very run down and although there were a few bars open, none served food and the restaurants we found were all closed. The factory referred to in other posts is in fact a massive oil refinery supplying 11,000 l oil daily and is a massive blot on the landscape. Though we could not see it from our room, nor does it produce any significant noise or fumes, it is hard to ignore.

This was a one night stay before catching the ferry home. Our original hotel cancelled our reservation ( no reason given) and this one was arranged by hotels.com as an alternative. Having read the reviews I wasn’t really looking forward to the last night of our holiday and I was proved right. Check in was difficult as the manager struggled with the booking system. We weren’t shown to the room which was very basic with no air conditioning. The parking area had been taken over by a fun fair and although we did find an alternative it was stressful. One good thing was the beer garden which was a shady place to sit. I would think carefully about booking this hotel and Hotels.com need to assess whether to keep recommending it on their site especially for the price charged.

It’s a modern hotel with nice style and nice decor. It has very safe gated car park which was great for my motorbike. Breakfast was a nice simple buffet. It is used a lot for overnight stays before catching the ferry. There are no restaurants or shops nearby. The downside is the location which overlooks a smelly refinery that makes the whole area unpleasant. I stayed 2 nights and while it’s a nice Hotel internally I doubt I’ll stay there again

The hotel is OK for a one night stay in order to take the ferry next day. The hotel was clean and the room was comfortable enough. Unfortunately it is right next to an oil refinery which polutes the atmosphere. On a very warm night we were unable to leave the window open because of this.

Good location if catching the ferry for Bilbao with a lovely beach and restaurants 5 minutes drive away. Hotel was very comfortable and nicely decorated. Continental breakfast was good and varied. Refinery is a bit of an eyesore during the day but as it was a quick stopover it didn't worry us and at night it looked quite nice all lit up.

We had one of the outside cabin rooms which was lovely - nicely decorated & very clean. The hotel is well located for access to the port & the town, but still quiet. The downside of this location is the oil refinery right next door but as the cabins face in to the garden area it’s not a problem. In fact it’s quite spectacular at night when it’s all lit.

The hotel is convenient for sailing from Bilbao ferry terminal, but is next to an industrial suburb, so the outlook is not great. Hotel is friendly and adequately appointed. The staff speak no English but somehow communication is achieved. The breakfast was fine, the dinner very simple with a choice of only two main dishes, but adequate and reasonably priced.
