The opportunity to stay in a villa surrounded by tea fields was too hard to miss out on. We arrived from Badula on the train and were welcomed by the staff at the house. It was clean and comfortable and a 15 minute walk into town. The next morning we were given a great breakfast and then walked into the tea field adjoining the property. We watched the local women picking and sorting tea leaves. Certainly an authentic experience as we were in their backyard. The staff we very helpful in organising our dinner to be delivered from a restaurant in town for us. All in all, a wonderful experience that we would recommend, along with the amazing high tea at the Grand Hotel in town.

A charming boutique hotel in Nuwara Eliya! My family and I had a great stay here, the hospitality was second to none. From the welcome cup of tea to the morning breakfasts and games for the children, the colonial style was fantastic and made for a very welcome stay. The beds were conformable, the deluxe room had a lot of space and all the amenities you needed were provided. Highly recommended.

Very disappointed having booked and paid up front to be given a small room looking into a brick wall with the window painted white . The room and bathroom needed repainting it was very scruffy . The worst thing was the uncomfortable bed which needed a new mattress . There are lovely rooms with views shown on the website - this was not what we expected ! The breankfast was very good and the service was polite and welcoming but let down by the room

We stay one night in the Tea Garden hotel, which is conveniently situated about 45 min from the World’s End trail in Horton Plains. The room was spacious, accommodating our family of four perfectly, and the beds quite comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. They packed a breakfast for our family (and driver!) in the early morning when we left for the park. The hotel is about 20-minute walk from an Indian restaurant if you are looking for dinner. Would recommend taking a cab when it’s dark as there isn’t any sidewalk for most of the way.

The tea garden hotel is gorgeous and the staff are friendly and helpful. We booked the standard room which was a touch squishy but otherwise comfortable. The only negative was the close proximately to the kitchen and lounge (literally in the same room). This meant there was a lack of privacy and a lot of noise.

We stayed one night at the Tea Garden, there was a very warm welcome from the staff with tea and cakes and we were able to check in early which was appreciated. It’s a 15 minute walk to the lake but it really is a Tuk Tuk ride into town and the tea factory. The room was very clean, shower was hot, the wifi good and the breakfast excellent. The guys ordered us a Tuk Tuk to the train station (800 rupees which seemed a good price) in the morning for us when we checked out.

Set on the edge of town and set back from the road, so little traffic noise this smartly decorated small hotel was comfortable and great value for money. Unfortunately, painting in the bathroom next door whilst preparing for the season start transmitted odours that were a little annoying. Staff were attentive professional and friendly. Breakfast (very good) only meal available, so to the popular restaurant five minutes away. We were presented with a packet of local tea when leaving. Convenient and value for money.

Gorgeous stay at The Tea Garden! After arriving in the afternoon, putting down our bags and enjoying a cup of tea on the balcony, my husband and I went for a jog around Gregory Lake, followed by dinner at Indian Summer (great North Indian dishes). We then walked back to the house, where a power cut (cables brought down by a heavy goods vehicle further up the road) meant we truly enjoyed the space, instead of checking emails or other such non-holiday type behavior! A generator meant we had light through the night, and by morning everything was back to normal. Breakfast was delicious and fueled us up for a long drive down to Galle. All of the staff were so friendly, sweet and helpful. A wonderful break from the chaos of everyday life and connectivity.

The hotel is a bit out of town in a nice tea field. Hotel has a homestay atmosphere. Houses/rooms are new or nicely renovated. Staff was nice and prepared breakfast on the terrace. We had a really big family room.

The room description on Hotels.com was misleading as it did not clarify that the standard room has no view but faces a wall. Service was warm and friendly, smooth check in and otherwise a very hospitable property. Location is fairly close to Lake Gregory and other attractions in Nuwara Eliya, and the cycle offers free bicycles (but no helmets or lights), which means it wasn't a good option for going around the motorways

Our stay at The Tea Garden was the best experience we had in our trip to Sri Lanka. The house is located a few kilometres out of town amongst a tea plantation, which makes the property so serene - besides the morning prayers from the Buddhist temple closeby, this too had surprisingly a calming impact to us. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Lahiru, our Host, delivered an exceptional service and was very accommodating to our needs. He also took me to a tea plantation tour and educated me on the history of tea. We wished we could've stayed longer at the cottage as this was the highlight of our overall trip!

The Tea Garden can be a little tricky to find as it is tucked in a small dirt road in front of the temple. Except for the daily 5-6am prayers from the temple, it is a very quiet place to stay. The staff, Lahiru has been very hospitable with making us tea and cookies and great breakfast. They even gave us a box of tea as a gift of appreciation. I will return to this place again. Thank you for the hospitality!
