Topaz Beach Hotel

Terrible hotel , staff very unprofessional and food was not always fresh , I stay at approximately 30 hotels a year and are usually very fair and honest in my reviews, avoid this hotel total Faulty Towers but without the sense of humour , however it is right smack on the beach in a fabulous location

Regarding the price hotel is OK. Breakfast was good. Nice garden and swimming pool. Beach area is clean. Room facility is just normal. Location is very good.

It's the staff that make a good hotel. The staff at Topaz Beach work hard to look after the guests. Our stay was very good and we will go back when we visit again.

We really liked the property. Good value for money. The only issue was there was a power cut and the hotel doesn't have its own generator. Not sure how often power cuts occur.

The hotel is old, dilapidated, repainted from the street and dingy from the back. The rooms are small and cramped. The bathroom is dirty and requires urgent renovation. The hotel surroundings are full of garbage. The beach is a tragedy!, run over by cars, very very dirty. Neglected swimming pool. I had booked a deluxe room with a view. I didn't get the room in the photos. Neither deluxe nor sea view. Nice service, bad breakfast (unless you like curry - I don't care)

I booked two double room, when we arrived there was only one room. Expedia doesn’t pass correct informations to the hotel. Not worth.. Just wast of money, Do not recommend with Expedia.com

In a good location on the beach and close to lots of restaurants. Room was very basic. Staff were very helpful and lovely.

Hotel was nice but no hot water a big turn off. Food in restaurant average. Communication of deatils with staff difficult.

Sitting on the terrace enjoying the view whilst having an excellent breakfast couldn't ask for more. Tranquil and relaxing. Bed was comfy. Staff as usual in Sri Lanka were amazing. Good value for money.

Nice location near airport right on beach and along side many streetside restaurants and shops. Breakfast was decent. WIFI Was quite unreliable and slow, quite frustrating that it continually goes on and off. Nice beach view from room.

Did not stay- only room available without having to climb steep stairs was gloomy! No one was there when I arrived and the location wound hdave required transportation to go anywhere - drain covers were removed and.construction noises were heard

Promised loud music started at 6 would end at 10, at 10 they said it would end st 11. At 12 I checked out of the hotel where they tried to overcharge me for the airport transportation and the meal I had.

Met at airport. Checked in at 5 am porter to handle heavy liggage. Woke early afternoon and had something to eat on terrace. Food available all day. Tours arranged. Atm at front door and selection of other bars. And restaurants on the spot. Easy and relaxing.

This the worst hotel experience I've had through hotels.com (which I've generally been quite pleased with). We had paid for one of the more expensive rooms, deluxe or sureprior, I can't recall the exact name now, and after being showed the room, I returned to the counter to ask if they were sure this was the room that we had booked. I showed him the photos of the room type I had booked from hotels.com and the man at the front desk simply laughed and said "oh no, that is one of our apartments, those are sold out". The condition of our room was terrible, the shower barely worked at all, and I had to spend about 15 minutes fixing the toilet before it worked. I absolutely loved the rest of Sri Lanka, but I would definitely not recommend this area, and particularly not this hotel.
