We booked this hotel as it stated it had free parking but when we checked in they only had 7 spaces which were occupied. Room was disappointingly in the basement with no charm. Carpets in the hotel were dirty and stained. Breakfast was terrible

We spent 3 nights in the Scandic Billingen Hotel and found it suited our needs while exploring the local area. The room was comfortable but a fridge and kettle would have been useful. The bathroom was small . It was noisy for 2 nights as the good people of Skovde celebrated the weekend! Breakfast was good and the evening meals we ate were also very tasty. There is not a great deal happening in the town so prepare to use this hotel as a base and also to eat in .

Frankly this hotel would be no-one's first choice for a touristic stay in Gothenburg. It's in the wrong part of town and pretty much featureless. But we were intending to catch a ferry to Denmark, and for that it's just perfect: close by, with off-road free parking (if you arrive early enough). We didn't sample the restaurant. Sorry hotel staff, you only get "OK" simply because I only exchanged about five words with reception and "hej" with the cleaner.

The outside of the building looks like it's been there for a while (don't know the history of the building but the outside and lobby are rather grand) but the furnishing and decor are definitely modern. And couldn't be closer to the train station! Comfortable bed, nice, strong shower (water pressure is important) and the staff was nice and helpful.
