Exceptional family-run hotel with genuine hospitality Aloha Lanta was one of the highlights of my stay in Koh Lanta. The location is excellent, directly in front of the beach in Saladan and within easy walking distance to restaurants, shops, walking street, and the ferry terminal. Even though it is very central, it sits at the end of a quiet dead-end street, which makes it peaceful. I stayed in two rooms, first a town-facing balcony room and later a sea view room. Both were very clean, spacious, and comfortable. The beds are firm, typical Thai style, but comfortable with great pillows. The sea view was beautiful. The rooms are simple but well maintained and practical. What truly makes this place special is that it is run by a local Thai family. My flight was delayed and I arrived close to 11 pm, even though reception normally closes at 9 pm. The manager waited for me, welcomed me with a beer, and offered food. Throughout my stay they helped book activities, arranged laundry, ensured daily cleaning, and were always available. When I became ill, they took excellent care of me. Some furniture shows signs of age, but everything is clean and well cared for. The value for money is excellent. I would absolutely return.

First off I want to say that on many other trips this hotel / room would have been sufficient but on this trip and at this price I didn't find these rooms acceptable. From the photos of the property we feel that the photographer did a great job but it does not represent it well. To be fair if you are in the area to dive and just need a place to crash this will do but this is at best a 2 motel and out does look like there are other options. The owners on the other hand I would like to say were so nice and pleasant. We had no complaints about them or their service. Just that this property was not what we were looking for at this point in our trip.

Our first impression of Saladan Ko Lanta was that it was a lot more touristy than we expected, but we adjusted pretty quickly. The Aloha Lanta is a short (5-10 minutes depending on our motivation) walk to the ferry dock. We mistakenly did not include air conditioning when we booked but, after the first night, adjusted pretty well with a room fan. There is a beach of sorts 30 meters from the hotel, but there is a huge sand bar that limits swimming to high tide or the channel where power boats go in and out of the docks. Getting to and from the hotel took us past dozens of seafood restaurants and the main road (#4245, never found a name for it) has more restaurants and street cafes, our preferred places to find real Thai food (rather than DDTT, dumb-downed tourist Thai meals). There is the Lanta Mart for food and drinks (large Chang beer for 57 Baht compared to 100-130 Baht in a restaurant), lots of dive shops, a 7-11, Lanta Massage (10% off with card from hotel). The best thing about the hotel was Peter, the host who opened the hotel at 7-7:30 a.m. and closed it at 9 p.m. He was friendly, willing to talk with us (and interested in us), quickly worked to fix a noisy fan, and just an all around great person. When I came down with a 36-hour gastroenteritis illness, he helped my wife cancel our kayaking tour and get a half-day tour for her, provided me with a case of water, and offered to get me electrolyte powder from pharmacy. Can't say enough good things about him.

We stayed here over New Year for 4 nights and wish we had stayed longer! The hotel staff who were also the owners were great and nothing was too much trouble. We booked a family room and got 2 rooms adjoining. The view from our balcony was really fantastic. For this time of year it was also very well priced and better than our previous accommodation 5km further on. Its also in a good position close to the ferry, lots of restaurants nearby. As for beaches there are lots to chose from but we liked Long Beach which was a short tuk tuk ride. If we ever return to this part of Thailand we will be staying here!

No beach. Some rooms overlooked the water but the nearest actual beach was 2.5km away. Paid quite a lot more than other people paid given their reviews online. More than double actually. No refunds or changes to my booking past a certain point. Neighborhood was safe but filthy/unsightly. Closeby was the touristy part of the Saladan area with many restaurants and shops. The room was adequate with a mini fridge but no minibar. 2 small bottles of water/day for free. Old TV, small but lots of channels. No side table or closet for luggage. No lamp for reading only bright ceiling lights with switch far from bed. Owners were lovely and helpful. If I got the same rate as the guests who posted before, I wouldn't expect more from this hotel. I could have done better with my money in Koh Lanta.

The location is right by the pier that the boats come in to Koh Lanta. We got a room with an ocean view and it was stunning! The young man who was the only employee we interacted with was very nice and helpful (we ended up also renting a motorbike for the day from him for 200 baht). The hotel is pretty old and doesn't have too much charm, but the price is right, there's AC, beds were fine. All in all I would recommend!

The property was under renovation/construction. The bathroom downstairs did not work. There was no hot water, which was not mentioned. The property is a waterfront facility but you can't swim at the so-called beach. Rocks are everywhere plus it is very close to the pier, so oily spots from the boats are floating on top flight of the water. The room was not clean, wet, with bugs and other insects, facing the construction site instead of promised garden view. The hotel itself and the beach look differently compare to what they looked on the pictures at hotels.com. The owner forced me to check in although I was very disappointed and did not wish to stay. I was trying to cancel the reservation and get the refund. They did not let me do so. However, I could jot stay their and had to move to a different hotel down the Cost line and pay extra money. The pay for Aloha has not been refunded.

We stayed 2 nights in this hotel. It's run by a father and son duo. We dealt primarily with the sun and he was incredibly helpful. In some other reviews, it says that the hotel is close to the beach. This is misleading. While there just a tiny tiny beach close to this hotel, it's not really one you would want to spend your time at. The real beaches (that are 1.5miles+ long) are closer to the middle of the island. Although clean, the hotel is quite dated. The TV, for example, is the first non flat screen TV I've seen in many years. If you don't plan on using it, then this is no big deal. The bed is rock hard and the pillows are quite thick. Both myself and my partner woke up in considerable neck and back pain after our first night. We informed the owner and he added some quilts underneath the sheets. While we very much appreciated his kindness and efforts to improve the condition, it only helped a little bit. At the end of the day, this hotel is far from the beach, we didn't have a view of the water, it's dated and the bed is uncomfortable. The staff are very very nice and helpful and seem like great people. But for a vacation, that simply isn't enough.

Good hotel close to Ferry pier. Good: Great and helpful host Location is near north of island, beside a beach. Not so good: Can hear music coming from vicinity at night, I think its a club. The area close to the hotel is very dark, the streets are empty at night. Beach beside hotel not very popular, the nice beaches are in the middle and bottom of the island.

Wonderful place to stay, every thing is close by restaurants, shopping, the Walking Street has numerous local food vendors each night and the food is fabulous. The hotel staff is great, Peter arranged day trips, scooter rentals all at discounted prices for us.

Locally owned by father and son combo who are really friendly and go out of their way to help you. Would definitely recommend this. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Location is close to many retaurants and is within walking distance to the pier.
