The room is very beautiful, wide, throwing well. There is a table to eat, it should be better. The bathroom is long and wide. But the water is not very strong. good service staff Help carry bags to the room. In front of the counter is good service, everyone is very good value. Breakfast is not many to choose from. But it tastes good. The mattress sucks a lot of souls and sleeps for a long time.

More about hotels in Phetchabun

About Phetchabun accommodation

Phetchabun trades Thailand's usual heat for cool mountain air, morning mist, and pine forest. It's the weekend escape Bangkok locals head to when they want cooler weather without a long flight, and it's an easy stop on a bigger Thailand road trip.

There's a stay to match however you're travelling, from misty hillside resorts in Khao Kho to simple hotels in Phetchabun town. Most places are set up for cool-season visitors, so expect blankets, hot showers, and views over the valley as standard.

Where to stay in Phetchabun

  • Khao Kho: The mountain resort area everyone comes for, cool air, morning mist rolling through the valleys, and lookout points at every turn. Best base if scenery and cooler nights are the priority.
  • Phetchabun town: The provincial centre, flatter and warmer than Khao Kho, with easier transport links and closer access to the tamarind orchards. A practical base if you're passing through rather than staying up the mountain.

How much is Phetchabun accommodation?

  • Budget: AU$25-45, a simple guesthouse or hotel room with air-con, hot water, and Wi-Fi, no extras.
  • Mid-range: AU$45-90, a resort-style room or cabin with a view, often with breakfast and a pool thrown in.

What Phetchabun is known for

  • Khao Kho's sea of mist: Cool weather year-round and a genuine sea of mist most mornings, best seen from spots like the viewpoint near the district office or Khao Takian Ngo.
  • Phu Thap Boek's cherry blossoms: Come December and January, wild Thai cherry blossom trees turn the mountain plateau pink, a genuine cool-season drawcard.
  • Sweet tamarind: Phetchabun grows almost half of Thailand's tamarind and is known locally as the city of sweet tamarind. Look for the low-acid Makham Wan Phetchabun variety at roadside stalls and markets.
  • Thung Salaeng Luang's grasslands: The Phetchabun side of this national park opens onto wide savanna-like grassland and pine forest, with wildflowers colouring the plains toward the end of the dry season.

Top-rated hotels in Phetchabun

  • Imperial Phukaew Hill Resort: A family-friendly hillside resort with garden grounds and mountain views over Khao Kho.
  • Parach Resort Khaokho: A highly rated stay with wide valley views and a terrace that's perfect for watching the mist roll in.
  • Bluesky Resort @ Khao Kho: Phetchabun's most-booked resort, known for glass-fronted rooms that look straight out over the hills.
  • The Private @ Khaokho: A small, top-rated retreat with private villas, good for a quiet couple's escape.
  • De Capoc Resort: A garden setting with an outdoor pool, an easy base for exploring Khao Kho's viewpoints.

Travel tips for Phetchabun

  • Visit between November and February for the coolest weather, the best sea-of-mist mornings, and, in December and January, the Phu Thap Boek cherry blossoms.
  • Pack a light jacket. Nights and early mornings up in Khao Kho get properly chilly for Thailand.
  • Book ahead for weekends. Khao Kho is a favourite quick getaway for Bangkok locals and rooms go fast.
  • Arrange your own transport if you can. Khao Kho's viewpoints and Thung Salaeng Luang's grasslands are spread out and easiest to reach with a car.

Frequently Asked Questions about Accommodation in Phetchabun

Do Australian passport holders need a visa to visit Phetchabun?

As of 15 September 2026, Australian passport holders can enter Thailand visa-free for up to 30 days for tourism, with a possible 30-day extension at an immigration office for a total of 60 days. You'll need a passport valid for at least six months and should complete Thailand's online arrival card before you fly. Phetchabun itself has no immigration office, so sort any visa extension in a larger city like Phitsanulok or Bangkok.

What's the best area in Phetchabun for a family stay?

Phetchabun town is the easier base for families. It's flatter and warmer than Khao Kho, with markets and simple restaurants close by and no winding mountain roads to navigate. If you don't mind the drive, some Khao Kho resorts have larger family rooms and garden space for kids, but pack for car sickness on the switchbacks. Either way, a resort with a pool is worth prioritising since the attractions are spread out.

How do you get to Phetchabun from Australia?

There's no direct flight, so you'll fly into Bangkok first. From there, the easiest route is a bus or organised transfer straight to Phetchabun, around 4 to 5 hours, or a short domestic flight to Phitsanulok Airport followed by a 2-hour drive. Hiring a car or booking a private transfer from Bangkok is worth the extra cost if you want to explore Khao Kho's spread-out viewpoints at your own pace.

What's the nightlife like in Phetchabun?

Phetchabun is quiet after dark, so don't expect bars or clubs like Bangkok or Phuket. Phetchabun town's night market is the main evening activity, a relaxed mix of street food stalls, local snacks, and shopping rather than a party scene. If you want a livelier night out, save it for a stop in Bangkok before or after your trip.

What can you do in Phetchabun outside of your hotel?

Wat Pha Sorn Kaew is a striking hilltop temple in Khao Kho, covered in colourful mosaic tiles with five large Buddha statues overlooking the valley, and one of the area's most photographed spots. The Khao Kho Wind Farm pairs strawberry and cabbage fields with rows of towering windmills, and you can ride a tram through them for a small fee. Add a coffee stop at one of Khao Kho's cliffside cafes and you've got a full day without setting foot in a hotel.

How many days should you spend in Phetchabun?

Two to three days is enough to cover Khao Kho's viewpoints, a temple or farm visit, and a relaxed morning watching the mist roll through the valley. Add a day if you're detouring to Thung Salaeng Luang's grasslands or timing your trip for Phu Thap Boek's cherry blossom season, since both are a fair drive from Khao Kho. Most visitors treat Phetchabun as a long weekend rather than a week-long stay.

What should you budget per day in Phetchabun beyond your hotel room?

Beyond your room, plan on roughly AU$15-25 a day for meals if you're eating at local restaurants and markets rather than resort dining. Attraction entry fees are low, most temples and farms charge under AU$5, but transport adds up if you're hiring a car or driver to cover Khao Kho's spread-out viewpoints. All up, AU$40-60 a day comfortably covers food, entry fees, and local transport on top of your accommodation.

What's the weather like in Phetchabun and what should you pack?

Phetchabun is coolest from November to February, with Khao Kho's evenings and early mornings dropping cool enough for a jumper, unusual for Thailand. March to May turns hot and dry, while the wet season from June to October brings afternoon rain and lingering mist in the hills. Pack layers for the swing between day and night temperatures, plus a light rain jacket outside the cool season.

Can you get around Phetchabun without your own car?

It's tough without one. Local transport in Khao Kho is limited, ride-hailing apps don't operate reliably in the mountains, so most visitors self-drive, hire a driver for the day, or book tours that bundle transport between viewpoints. Phetchabun town has songthaews, shared pickup trucks, for short hops, but they won't get you up into Khao Kho's resort area.

Is it easy to pay by card in Phetchabun, or should you carry cash?

Carry cash. Bigger resorts and some restaurants in Khao Kho accept cards, but smaller guesthouses, farms, temples, and market stalls are cash-only. ATMs are limited once you're up in Khao Kho, so withdraw Thai baht in Phetchabun town or before you arrive from a larger city.
