Service was great. We came early in the morning but the owner still enthusiastically let us check in and free completely. Rooms are clean, spacious and lovely yard. Conveniently located in the old town area and easy to move to famous spots in Chiang Mai.

Tri Gong Residence puts other hostels to shame. Really. I couldn't find anything bad to say about it. 1. The room is spacious, clean, with hot water for shower, daily supply of towels, drinking water and toilet paper. 2. Very friendly staff. Allowed late check in with no fuss/add cost at all. 3. Near to attractions. There’s a bike rental just around the corner, a massage place, travel agency, cafes, food stalls and good restaurants. About a 20mins walk to the night bazaar. It’s like staying in a hotel with a very very cheap price. I would definitely stay here again.

I liked everything about this place but the bed. It's a thin mattress on top of wood bed frame with no box spring and low to the ground. Never had an issue with a bed before but am getting older. The place was clean, safe and had a nice staff running it. I'd stay again if I were in a jam. Also they let me check in early.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Tri Gong Hotel, and it was an experience that truly exceeded my expectations. Nestled in a fantastic location at the corner of the old city, the hotel is just steps away from a charming street full of character and activity, making it an ideal spot for exploring Chiang Mai. One of the highlights of my stay was the hotel’s "boss" – a delightful Schnauzer named Muffin, who quickly became the heart and soul of the place. Muffin's friendly presence added an extra layer of warmth and charm that made the hotel feel like a home away from home. In terms of value, Tri Gong Hotel is unbeatable. The room rates are incredibly reasonable for the quality of the accommodations and the level of service provided. The staff were consistently helpful, going out of their way to ensure my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. What truly set this hotel apart, however, was their kindness and willingness to go above and beyond for their guests. Early in my stay, I came across a stray beagle running around Chiang Mai with a leash and collar. Not knowing what to do, I brought the dog back to the hotel. The staff immediately stepped in to help. They posted about the dog on a Thai-language Facebook group and worked tirelessly to ensure the dog was reunited with its owner. Their compassion and effort in this situation were far beyond what you’d expect from any hotel and left a lasting impression on me.

The only problem with this hotel is that the room was dated. The bed was comfortable, the room was quiet, the hotel staff were very friendly. It didn't feel as though the room was dirty, it just felt old. Totally a great option in old town at a very reasonable price.

As a solo traveller, Tri Gong was perfect. The location is ideal as it’s within the old city and close to everything. It is only a 2 star and it is basic, but has everything you need. The hotel can do with an update but that didn’t bother me. I just used the place to sleep and store my stuff. The staff at the reception were polite and there were no problems when checking in and out.

This hotel is in the perfect location of the old city. Easy to walk everywhere. The room is very outdated and small with no windows, but it’s clean and a great price. Only downside is noise from the street and neighbors. Just bring earplugs and you’ll have a great stay. Muffin, the owners dog is also very friendly.
