More about hotels in Masaka
About Masaka accommodation
Masaka is a town in central Uganda on the main Kampala-Mbarara highway, about 127km southwest of Kampala. It's primarily a practical stopover and regional commercial town — a market hub for the surrounding coffee-growing region — rather than a headline tourist destination in its own right. Masaka sits on the equator, a popular photo stop for travellers passing through, and nearby Lake Nabugabo offers swimming, canoeing and birdwatching as a modest local leisure draw.
Masaka's real value for most travellers is as a convenient first overnight stop on the route from Kampala toward Mbarara and the gorilla-trekking region around Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, or toward the Rwanda border.
