I booked a 12-night stay at Nile Village Hotel expecting a relaxing 4-star experience. Instead, I walked directly into a construction zone. The swimming pool was completely shut, and although the spa, sauna, steam room and gym were technically “open”, the constant drilling throughout the day made them unusable. The noise was so loud it could be heard from the road outside the hotel. None of this was communicated before arrival, despite the hotel being aware that the facilities had been closed since 1 November (I checked in on 9th Nov). Management offered minimal compensation (three ciders), repeatedly failed to give clear answers, and left me to find alternative accommodation myself before finally agreeing to move me. Even then, the replacement hotel was a lower star rating and the hotel refused discuss refunding the difference in price. The experience was nowhere near what was advertised, and the lack of transparency and customer care was extremely disappointing.

I was very disappointed with my stay at Nile Village. I have stayed at this hotel 2-3 times a year for the last few years but this stay was different. I booked 3 deluxe rooms but was given 3 cottage rooms which are $20 cheaper than what I booked. I brought this issue up multiple times but was told they couldn't do anything about it. After checking in too the rooms one family member was moved to 2 different rooms because things were broken. 2 rooms were missing shower doors, there was mold on the ceiling in the bathroom. The food was pretty good and the staff was friendly. But the facilities are not being kept up as well as it should be.

I would rate this hotel 3* max as many things needs improvements. Not much choice in the morning with breakfast buffet. One of the machine in the restaurant make annoying sound every few seconds. Gym is there but 50% of equipment was broken and we couldnt use it! Rooms are ok but nothing special. Bed mattress hard. Window net broken. No nets in bathroom windows. Fortunately AC worked well. No bedside lamp. No plug in the sink. But most frustrating thing was NO WATER FOR MANY HOURS OR VERY LOW PRESSURE!

We booked and pre-paid for this hotel using hotels.com and arrived at 4pm on the day of check in. We were then told that the hotel was full and that they had to move us to a sister hotel, which was a 3 star hotel inconveniently located for our trip. After rejecting the offer of a move to a inferior hotel, then manager kept us waiting for 2 hours and after asking what was going on, he said that he had organized a room for us at a neighboring 5 star property and that they would take care of our room costs. We asked for a letter confirming this, which he provided and our driver took us to the new hotel. When we showed them the letter and tried to check in, they said that they couldn’t accept the letter unless they revived a guarantee of payment from the manager. Another 2 hours passed as they were promised the guarantee, which subsequently never arrived. Given that my 2 young children were with me, and it was dark outside, I had not alternative but to pay the full rate at the new hotel, which was $120 extra per night on top of what I’d already paid at the previous hotel. Expecting a refund from the Nile Village Hotel, I reluctantly paid for the new hotel - after all, they couldn’t accommodate us and sent us to this new hotel. The next day, I checked online and the manager marked our room allocation as a no-show which incurs a penalty. I’m yet to receive anything back to counter this and have proof of all of the above. These guys are thieves so please be careful.
