The electrocic/app key situation was problematic. When we tried to get it resolved, nothing came of it. There is no front desk person and the water took 10+ min to warm up in the shower one of the days. Rooms were super cute. The art was awesome and the bed was comfortable. The location was ideal and the downstairs bar was fun and friendly.

Cons: Terrible assistance by the front desk staff Unable to sleep due to noise in alleyway from 9pm -5am. Bring ear plugs! Pros: cute rooms, comfortable beds Excellent house keeping

This is a no employee hotel ( code entry by app you download) right at the gate to Chinatown. Every room is artist painted differently and my room was black and white with ropes hanging all over as decor there was only a faint bedside light and two tiny pin lights, nicely redone bathroom. It is so small, dark and old that you can’t read or even have a place to put down a cup. Tv and internet ok. It worked for me because I am a very short artistic type and travel alone. Only a un hosted Kerrigan downstairs ( no food) . It is a fun location but check what room you are getting, this one was terrible but I think some might be nice, best for single traveler without mobility issues, steep staircase and awkward elevator. You could have a good vacation here without a car because it is very central to all of the city and transportation. You have to have an open mind, definitely not a typical experience.

For the price and location it was perfect for us. Walking distance to everything we wanted to see

I liked the artist vibe and location. It looked clean overall, just a bit musty smelling. No fan. What upset me was the noise and base from the bar that’s connected . I didn’t sleep well even w ear plugs on. The last night I turned up the volume of a YouTube thunderstorm and that helped a little.

The staff was nice but she was one person, a cleaning lady. My room was above the bar so I could hear every bass line from every song until 3am each night. That's when the music from the Irish Bank next door didn't overcome the music from the bar below. (The bar is amazing though). Just not so quiet. I only found 1 cockroach on my final day so I count this as a victory.

Person in front desk RUDE not helpful at all and had an attitude. Not going back anymore.

The in room refrigerator was set to the coldest setting which caused a nice bottle of wine and some food to freeze. Very loud banging (maybe construction) at 6 am for at least 2 hours. No personnel to check you in or out and no room service either.

Affordable. Oozing personality. Otherwise clean and safe.

So, it is what it is, not bad, not great. It is very reasonable and I love Chinatown/Financial District, food and bars are fantastic. I'd go back.

Much better than one would have expected… cleanliness is key to me and they delivered! Very clean.

OpenKey is not convenient. Passcode would be preferably better. Lift doors are cumbersome.

The pictures made this look like a an actual hotel, it is closer to an unfun hostel.

Very unique property design and style, especially the rooms. Loved the area, right beside Chinatown and a couple blocks from high-end designer stores. Never felt unsafe.

I really enjoyed my stay! The room was beautifully decorated and I was surrounded by many dining options which I loved.

Excellent location! Across the street from the Dragon Gate. Cool little hotel, very artsy as the name implies. These are basic rooms, very comfortable but a Victorian bathtub/shower. Perfect for our purposes but we only had the room to sleep in.

I recently stayed at this hotel and had a mixed experience. On the positive side, the murals of wrestlers on the walls were both funny and cool – definitely a unique touch that made the place feel more lively. However, the room itself had several issues. There was a weird smell, likely coming from the rug, which really needed a deep clean. To make matters worse, I found a sewing needle on the floor! If I had stepped on it, that would have been awful. It made me wonder if they had vacuumed at all. The window wouldn't stay closed on its own, which was annoying. The sink was also inconvenient with two separate spouts for hot and cold water, making it tricky to wash my face. The lighting in the room was terrible for doing makeup – not ideal at all. Additionally, the shower rod kept tilting to the right during my shower, and I had to keep adjusting it. It definitely needs to be stabilized. Overall, the quirky decor was the highlight, but the cleanliness and functionality of the room were disappointing. With some attention to detail, this place could be much better.
