First off, Emily who runs the place is amazing. Secondly the location is an easy walk to parades, art shows, and the farmer's market. Great location. The rooms are somewhat rustic, many with no phones or TV. That didn't bother us at all. Had a great stay.

We really enjoyed our 2-day visit to Starret House. The house was very charming, bursting with historic significance. It really felt like staying in a museum though we were comfortable. Walls were thin so we had to keep caterwauling to a minimum. Breakfast gets cold if you don’t arrive early to eat. Bed was comfy. Bathroom was tiny. Staff was friendly and manager gave us a nice tour of the house. Short walk to main areas of Port Townsend.

The Starrett House was a wonderful surprise. I felt like I was living in a museum instead of simple bed and breakfast. The accommodations were clean and comfortable and contained everything I needed. My breakfast was definitely on the gourmet side and I enjoyed sitting in the formal dining room feeling like I was a guest of the family who built the home. If you can’t spend the night, tours of the home are available and high tea events are offered. I was originally looking for a budget motel for my Port Townsend trip but then came across the Starrett House. The price was a bit more than a motel but the value of the fabulous breakfast and the ambiance of the property justified the splurge. The location is just up the hill from the historic shopping district and I was able to walk to the ferry, shops, and several eclectic dining options. If you’re coming to Port Townsend, skip the motels and treat yourself to an experience where you’ll be treated like a guest instead of a customer.

Serious charm in this 130 year old home. Host Ami was so lovely taking us on the tour of the property and her breakfast included the best fruit salad I have ever had. We had the purple room, the old drawing and it was spacious and comfortable. Do note that it has the soaking tub but no shower so if that’s something you need, chose a different room. The only negative is it needed a small mirror above the sink. I think one used to be there but no longer. I used the one above the tub to put on makeup and didn’t feel as successful in that endeavor.

The host was great, super friendly and thoughtful, good cook for breakfast (would recommend making veggie options though). House is old and needs some upkeep but room & bathroom were comfortable. Walkable to farmers market and town. I stayed in Nanny’s room, could hear neighbors in room over, like all the convo.

The only reasons that it didn't get 5 stars is that the exterior needs to be painted (which is slated to happen soon and return the colors to the original colors in 1889) and the fact that they had issues with the entry system such that we had to contact the host (who was awesome) to let us in each time we returned to the house. Guests also need to know that the house features long staircases to get to the rooms due to the high ceilings on the main level.

Old and charismatic house. Lovely place to stay for a more intimate stay in Port Townsend. Absolutely loved the breakfasts each morning, cooked by staff. Not your typical continental breakfast - much better!
