I chose this hotel because it was close to Blues Alley and I was celebrating a birthday. This is a beautiful hotel in a great location. Most of the staff was warm. Front desk was friendly and helpful. I wish I was told that Alex speakeasy stopped serving dinner at 1130 when I made my reservation through the front desk. The valet guys were great and helpful. The hidden fees… whew 2 credit processings fees, taxes on top of taxes fees, destination fee and destination taxes . The rooftop bar was a little overrated, service was a little cold. Maybe that’s the culture of the town. Cute but crowded so make reservations. I would go back.

The biggest issue with this hotel is WiFi. The signal in my room was so weak, that I couldn’t even log on. I had lots of work to do and couldn’t even complete it because of the lack of WiFi. Not sure if every room was like this, some areas of the hotel might be better than others? But I will likely choose another spot next time because of this.

Great location and lovely property. The site says check-in at 4, but you can message them to request an earlier check-in (says you’ll hear back in one business day). Great, except they don’t seem to check it and never messaged back. No biggie, but what caught us if-guard was the staff member’s insolence and lack of concern (didn’t even pretend to look like she cared). At least the bellhop was kind and took our bags to hold until 4 and directed us to Georgetown U for our meeting. Lovely hotel, great location and a popular spot for dinner & evening gatherings… check-in staff could be a little less pretentious and more friendly.

Location was perfect! I spent more the night before for a higher ranked hotel in sketchy area. I consider this hotel to be a true 5 star. The restaurant recommendation, I would have never found. The kitchen closed late and we arrived when kitchens in the area were closing. It was memorable with my teenage daughter. I will never stay anywhere else if in DC. Beds were amazing! Thank you!

Hotel is tired. Deferred maintenance makes this place look worn. Bathroom smelled like wet rags when we arrived. Mattresses desperately need replacing--each night was an effort to stay in the middle so you didn't roll off the sides. They try to offer ammenities but they are just sad--complementary snacks are - 2 bags of off brand chips and a Pepsi. They advertise doing a survey for a free drink with their house made tequila--but when you go to the bar they say the drink is a beer. Woman who checked us in didn't even look up from her computer to tell us check in time was 4. And even the our room wasn't ready until 6:00. The poor cleaning people have to push huge carts that don't fit the hallways. There are always piles of dirty linen in the halls. The rooftop bar has nice views but pricy and mediocre drinks --and beware that every bill has a 20% service charge (and the service matches that they aren't working for tips). The location is great --close to Georgetown and the waterfront but they really should bill themselves as a budget hotel--and charge that way. The restaurant next door--say cheese--has quick breakfast items. Best sandwich is Cafe con Bagel. Best breakfast bowl was at Yellow. Good greek ice cream at Yala. Favorite clothing store-Reformation. And take a class at Core Power--it is a 2 minute walk and a lot of fun.

I have stayed twice. Valet service was great. Front desk was mixed both times. The rooftop bar was most unwelcoming every time I went there for a drink with friends before dinner. This last visit my friend said no more chances, not worth it. Also, on the day I was to arrive I called ahead to ask if my room might be ready early (maybe 3pm instead of 4) but I was shocked to learn if I came earlier it would be minimum of a $50 charge, more if it was more than an hour earlier. For a higher end boutique hotel I was stunned at this. Would have been better to just say, our apologies but the room won't be ready. It really cheapened the hotel vibe.
