I used to stay at Troutbeck back in the 60s as a child and this was a nostalgic trip for me. For the most part everything seemed to have been beautifully maintained with the top rooms having had an upgrade - all seemed brand new and the bed was soooo comfortable. The staff were beyond friendly and helpful and even gave us a free upgrade. I love that they honour Major “Mac”, who I remember well, as he developed the dam, pine forests, and the hotel, and gave support and upliftment to the local community. The road to Nyanga from Harare is good, and I encourage anyone thinking of going to do it! They need foreign visitors and it’s such a wonderful experience. The lake and World’s View are magical.

The hotel and the town itself was absolutely lovely. Wouyhave preferred a bigger selector food and drink options but we were staying mid week so maybe it would be better at the weekend. Shout-out also to Froggy Farm in Juliasdale which makes an excellent place to stop on the journey to the resort.
