It’s still early days, but if last year’s anything to go by, we’re in for heaps of hot travel offers. Retailers across Australia and beyond usually roll out discounts on everything from travel gadgets to getaways.
Last year, we ran a promotion with up to 30% off flights, hotels and attractions. Major hotel chains also joined, including Archipelago International hotels, offering 10% off with no minimum spend, for example.
No confirmed flight steals just yet, but you can count on major airlines to join the party. Previous years brought headline fares from Jetstar, Virgin, Qantas and more, so expect deals across popular domestic and international routes.
Last year’s flight sale examples set a high bar. Virgin Australia ran a huge sale with over one million discounted fares starting from AU$49 each way. Some sample routes included Gold Coast to Sydney for AU$65 one way and Perth to Adelaide from AU$169.
Airlines like Singapore Airlines dropped fares to over 60 destinations, with some real surprises like Melbourne to Frankfurt from AU$1,660 return.
Both sales are big, but they serve different purposes. Black Friday’s all about early-bird bargains that are perfect for those getting ahead on holiday shopping or locking in end-of-year travel. Boxing Day, on the other hand, is about post-Christmas clear-outs, with deals that often focus on leftover stock.
Travel deals hit both events, but Black Friday usually has the edge for flights and hotels during peak holiday times. If you’re looking for summer holiday getaways or want the best pick of the bunch, Black Friday’s your best bet. After something spontaneous in January? Black Friday falls on the last Friday of November each year. In 2025, it lands on Friday, 28 November.
Most major sales will kick off around 21 November and wrap up on Cyber Monday, 1 December…but don’t be surprised if a few retailers jump in early.
